How To Make A Fire To Cook On

Published 2022-01-28
When cooking over wood instead of charcoal often called "live fire" cooking you need to make sure you have a good fire to start cooking on, here I show you simply how to make a fire to cook on.

I build a jenga style stack of wood, none of the logs too big, and top with kindling, the air gaps allow good air flow so the fire can really get going quickly. I use either one or two natural wood wool firelighters in the top and bottom of the stack, which gets things going quickly.

This is a great way to get a fire started that I use in fire pits, asado grills and braais, and wood fired ovens.
