If you're camping and you run out of fuel, you ought to know how to do this. Be cool about fire safety! Always have water on hand to douse the fire if it gets out of control. Never leave a fire unattended. When you're done, be sure to thoroughly soak it.

"Don't wanna be getting Ol' Smokey on the case" 🤣 heard that last used in the Scouts a depressingly long time ago

Nice. No need for a huge fire just to cook. An old Indian saying: White man builds big fire, sits far away. Indian builds small fire, sits close. I'm guessing it took a whole 5 minutes to collect wood for dinner. Nice going.
  • great video! complete fire building from start to finish, very clear- much better than most of the videos I've seen!

  • Thank you I like making stone axes and bows for my dad this is really helpful for him ❤️
  • I went to live in the bush for a month or two on the beaches and I would make fires exactly like this everyday to cook my food in the one pot I brought with me. And there was one vagrant who would visit me who'd been living that life for several years and at first he couldn't believe that the neighborly smell of fire he was getting was from this tiny little fire I made everyday in a hole the size and shape of a bathroom sink so that I could lay some tentpoles I found across it to put my small pot on. The only reason I made small fires like this was one: I picked a dwelling near a small airport which had signs all over about no fires and two because dry wood that you could salvage without tools in the dunes on and bushes on the beach was surprisingly sparse and difficult to attain. Infact I noticed that my neighbour had a store of firewood visible from the beach and it was half composed of driftwood and straight up timber with nails and shit. This video just gave me such nostalgia. I bet you get mild burns every single time you make one of these. Am I right?

Did something similar years ago. A small teepee fire of apx. pencil-size sticks. Once they were burning, you rest your metal mug on two sticks to keep it off the ground, and push the mug 1/2 way into the fire. Once you have coals, they can go under the mug.

No large rocks to keep the fire from getting out? It does look good but the furnace sticks are flammable too yes? This will for sure keep Smokie from getting ya...just sayin
