  • I think whenever people say they don't like Ben Affleck's Batman they are talking about the writing rather than Ben Affleck himself, it's kinda like Henry Cavill as Superman they don't dislike Cavill they just hate the writing.

Loved the idea of a “broken” Batman. One who lost his way as alluded to by Alfred a few times. We’re led to believe that he didn’t always kill, and wasn’t always such a loose cannon, but 20 years of broken promises, losses, and betrayals made him into the Batman we saw in BvS. I agree it was the material that let Ben down, but the biggest issue is he didn’t get a solo movie before BvS. Imagine seeing a solo film where Robin is alive and is Batman’s last thread to his moral codes. We see Robin killed by the Joker in the climax and Batman looses it. Then in the post credits scene we see the opening of BvS with Bruce running through the Metropolis wreckage. That would have set the audience up for a better understanding of where this Batman is at come BvS , and would give characters like Gordon more screen time.
  • Ben Affleck is aesthetically the best Batman ever put on screen, in and out of costume. He physically looks the part more than any other actor who’s ever took on the role, and on top of that, he’s a damn good actor. He has moments of brilliance in otherwise awful movies. With better material, he’s easily the best live action Batman.
  • Ben Affleck is a pretty damn good actor. His performance as the cape crusader was fine for the most part, but the problem that his character was so horribly written. It also didn’t help the fact that Warner Bros. completely rushed him in the DCEU universe without taking the time to properly tell his story.

Ben Affleck is the most comics-accueatw Batman as far as visually, and he had a very layered and interesting take. Frank Miller 's Batman on screen. I LOVED it. And personally, I consider him to be the best live-action Batman. (And so did Kevin Conroy.)
  • When I first saw Ben Affleck as batman I loved it I loved how older her was he wasn't trying to be Micheal Keaton or Val Kilmer he was doing what he does best despite being old. His version was a much older Batman who has seen some bad things I picture him taking on Bane or Killer Kroc.
  • The fact that batman doesn't have a solo movie in the dceu will never make sense to me, like this is batman where talking about

Affleck fits the character perfectly. He exudes both Batman and Bruce Wayne. Unlike the other actors who looks good as Batman but is a misfit for Bruce or vice-versa. Kinda like Reeves for Superman/Clark, but I must say Henry does a good job too...

He is easily top 3 with Bale and Keaton. He is the most comic book-accurate Batman, brooding, intimidating, violent, dark and an excellent Bruce Wayne. What else is he supposed to do, crack jokes? Go campy? ZSJL and BvS are great dark movies. I don't get how anyone can be on the fence regarding Affleck as Batman. He nailed it.

I also felt that the Bruce/Barry relationship felt very reminiscent of Tony and Peter
  • He’s my second favorite, and before Pattinson was my favorite live action Batman, I’ve always heard negatives about how he was written and never about his actual performance as Batman. Imo he did a phenomenal job, especially with what he was given, just the writing held his version back a little. Still love him as Batman, wish we could’ve gotten more with him

I'm glad you pointed out how he is. The most accurate portrayal visually. The biggest issue for me is so much of what the character was as well as his supporting cast needed their own movie outside of the Justice League.
  • Zack Snyder wanted to tell the story of a Batman unlike everyone else before him. A Batman who fell so low after 20 years in Gotham that became cruel and relentless. The whole story of Batman is a hero again for the sacrifice of Superman.
  • Batman Ben Affleck became more violent after his partner Robin's death. Every batman in movies killed. Also, Batman (Ben Affleck) stopped killing at the end of Batman V Superman. The message of his arc is he becoming a hero again due to Superman's sacrifice.

Love Batfleck. I was so looking for his solo film, and the few people who read his script said it was amazing. It's sad we will never see it.
  • Yeah definitely agreed he's the most divisive.. I personally loved him & am glad Affleck was able to say goodbye to the character properly.

Batfleck was the batman we deserved . Batfleck
  • @eddienom
The scene were Bruce(Batman) is looking at the costume of Robin. There’s something I never knew what I was looking at. I thought it was sadness but it was regret.
