Ernie was my primary influence on guitar before I switched to drums. To this day, when white guitar cats start espousing praise on Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page & then they mention Jimi (Hendrix) in a tag-along fashion, I AM quick to quiz them about Ernie Isley so that the brother & his brothers get the musical respect that is just due. The Isley Brothers were the perfect sonic blend between R&B/Soul, Funk & Rock. Their classic "Fight The Power" was a game changer for me. 🎵🎵🎵

I grew up in Cincinnati, live here to this day. Started playing drums in 61. Started playing free shows with different groups on fountain Square. The Isleys would pull up in their caddys get out watch. Talk about being nervous, okelly , Rudy were the coolest guys you could ever meet. They would watch the show and tell you where you needed to improve And they were right every time. They would tell us about the latest tour or record release. They never forget their old friends in the hood trying to make it and they would help were ever they could. Bootsy Collins the same way.

I’m so happy to know some of their biggest hits were recorded independently with distribution!!! That’s how you do it!!!

Iconic!, Rest in Peace; O'Kelly, Rudolph, Marvin (the beautiful). Chris changed the game for the Isley sound, handsome and Brilliant!! Ernie and Ron, pure talent! Real R&B legacy music. Ron Isley has one of the most outstanding voices i ever heard.

I grew up hearing the Beatles version of Twist and Shout. My sister had all the 70s classics. Contagious and Mr. Biggs is still one of the best musical sagas of pop and R&B music. Jimi Hendrix came up through them. The Isley Brothers place in history is set forever!

This is one of my favorite groups from the 70’s they’re were truly a hot item back in the day, I believe my oldest brother who has now passed on to glory bought every album they produced back then ❤

Wow their brother must have had an amazing voice for him to be the lead singer over Ronald. Just a fun fact the Isley brothers gave Elton John his first start playing keyboards for them on tour!

In the sixties my dad had several of there records and that's when I first heard of them but fight the power was the first record that I bought of them. Harvest of the world was my first eight track and go for your guns was my first album.
