Stay In My Corner was the first 6min slow jam we danced to in the basement.

FROM 1973 - 1974 I PLAYED IN A BAND CALLED THE NICKEL BAGG, AND WE WERE THE ROAD BAND FOR THE DELLS. WE WERE ALL FROM CHICAGO SOUTH SUBURBS, HARVEY, PHOENIX AND MARKHAM, AND EVEN WENT TO THORNTON HS WITH CHUCK BARKSDALE'S YOUNGER BROTHER. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! AND YEARS LATER MOST OF US ARE STILL PLAYING MUSIC IN OUR 70S. GREAT DOCUMENTARY, THANX!!!
  • I love Stay In My Corner by The Dells especially when Marvin Junior can hold the note🎵 for a long minute or so it’s just amazing, I also love Oh What a Night and A Heart Is A House of Love as well.
  • This was such a gift for me...‼️💙💯💙 My Great Uncle is Vern Allison and "Marv" was my cousin. My Paternal Grandmother was verns youngest sister Elaine, Marv was their first cousin. Thank you for such a great video!!! Can't wait to share this!

I have always loved the Dells from a little kid. It’s weird how people think five heartbeats are in real group, but I have to say this heartbeat front and center. Love the Dells.❤
  • Stay in my corner is one of my favorites, but I also like give your baby a standing ovation and the love we had stays on my mind. Those are some of one's from my day. I still listen to the Dell's today. As far as both of the movie's, I love them both.
  • I had a garage vocal group when I was a kid & we sang Dells songs & sent it to Cadet/Chess around '72 or so & they wrote back contact us when you're grown up...we were 8 or 9 years old...even though they're in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame they never really got their due.
  • There was a oldies station in Houston Texas 1230KNUZ AM and they featured the Dells often playing both versions of Oh What A Night and marveled at the hang time on that one note bridge I Stay In My Corner Great music Rest easy in Heaven you are missed
  • Johnny Funches and Marvin Junior shared leads on their VJ recordings. but Johnny Funches led on Dreams of Contentment 1955 and Tell the World 1955. Also the hits in 1957 such as Pain in my Heart and Time Makes You Change. I have all their 50’s songs on 78 rpm and 45 rpm and their first album Oh! What A Night on VJLP 1010
  • I find it hard to believe that they were told they couldn’t sing early on. They must have done something right because the musical masterpieces they song were outstanding. Especially Marvin junior!
  • @shagw4286
An unsung group! They could sing their a** off! Stay In My Corner is a masterpiece.
  • I saw them perform at the Hollywood Palladium, New Years Eve 1969. Incredible. And they had an amazing saxophonist handling the solos. solos.

These are my parents songs. I know these songs and artist love it. They taught me ao much music history..keep up the good work.❤❤❤❤
  • "Run For Cover" "There Is" "Stay In My Corner" and "Oh, What A Night" are my favorite Dells songs. Marvin Junior sounds just like Teddy Pendergrass.
  • @lenoramills2582
The love we had stays on my mind was my favorite ❤❤
  • I remember a lot of their songs, and I remember Robert interview about him making the movie. That cartoon was funny! This was a good video of a great group. It was nice to hear about a group that didn’t have problems with drugs. May they all be Resting In Peace!
