As the Los Angeles Lakers begin their coaching search, there are three important lessons from the tenures of Frank Vogel and Darvin Ham that they need to apply moving forward.

I cover the importance of nailing the basics with their next coach, why the Lakers will need to be more competitive with their contract offer, prioritizing the alignment between the coach, front office and players, why the new coach has to be more adaptable than his predecessors, why the coach also needs gravitas (and how that favors JJ Redick), and more.

I’m tempted to walk up to someone and yell “BUHA!!” 😂

This was one of the more conscientious takes on the Lakers coaching search I've seen. What terrifies me as a Lakers fan since the Shaq era is I'm not sure Jeanie and her friends are having these types of discussions behind closed doors. Being tall and having some former connection to the Lakers seems to be most important to Jeanie.
  • It irritates me that people say negative things about Vogel. He was amazing, and he gave this Lakers team a defensive identity. The front office and the stars really screwed up by not sticking by his side.

Need a video of “BUHA” on loop for 8 hrs so i can get through work.

I wish this was happening last year. Nick Nurse would've been a homerun. JJ is the wildcard because maybe he'll be amazing (or not) but none of the other available guys are that inspiring. I like Bud's x's and o's but as a people person, he wears on guys. Just watch several of his interviews and you can get a sense of why.

I totally agree but if you step back a bit, it’s a bit insane that needing the coaching staff and front office to be on the same page is a lesson to be learned. That’s like step 1!

Gotta be hard for Ham to read everyone's analysis on what went wrong. Even though it was totally obvious to everyone but, apparently Ham himself.

The audio volume slightly increases around the first lesson mark. Had a leveling issue there. It's fixed on the audio version.
  • Thank god the Suns hired coach Bud. Dodged the bullet of Darvin senior

Agree with everything you said. The mainstream media needs to have you on for this topic because they dont kmow what they're talking about

Great analysis and breakdown Jovan 👍 As much as I like JJ, I just don't know how his lack of NBA coaching experience will manifest during a season. He'd be awesome in many respects but a slip up here and there could result in disaster when there is so little margin for error. Still, how cool would it be for him to coach and even possibly win his first championship - off the back of Lebron and AD no less. 👏💪
  • We are the Lakers, we need an EXPERIENCED NBA COACH! Legendary Lakers DESERVE an experienced winning NBA coach. Get rid of Rob if he can’t deliver.

I like your JJ Redick, X Factor

Lakers ownership & FO don’t even pay their coaches the market rate much less putting a team together properly yet ppl really wanna blame LBJ & AD for LA’s issues 😂
  • @gringoboy701
It doesn't matter. The FO has shown they have no idea what actually works. They blew up a great team because they didn't think we had enough. The only issue was that team had AD/Lebron miss 50% of the season as well as both injured during the playoffs while AD couldn't even continue the series halfway thru. If Jokic/Murray missed 40 games this year I'm willing to bet my life that they wouldnt blow up the roster.
