I kind of missed out to say: MOTHER OF BUCK!! How amazing is your S4 Intro and squee the animations... THE ANIMATIONS!!! Just wanted to get this off my chest. Video was good too...
  • I don't know why, but every positive review you do always gets me to like an episode when I have major problems with it. Keep giving us your thoughts GoldenFox, you have excellent reasons for having the opinons you do.

I really enjoyed "Daring Don't"! It's one of my favorite episodes!!

Here's what I thought: Daring being real means that there are OTHER ponies helping keep Equestria safe, not just the Main Six.
  • At first, i really liked this episode; it explored more on the Daring Do books, I found the plot twist that A.K. Yearling was in fact Daring Do herself, and I really loved the Indiana Jones-esque feel to it. But then I learned about the canon information about Twilight's mother, Twilight Velvet. Turns out she's a writer as well, and has been shown in the comics with a poster (or something, I can't remember exactly what) of Daring Do. This led many people, including myself, to believe that she was the author of the Daring Do books. I think the reason this one got mixed reactions was because that headcanon, which was extremely likely to actually be true and relatively easy to pull off, was nuked by what we see in the episode itself. When i look back at this episode, it seems like a missed opportunity to delve more into Twilight's family and officially introduce the audience to  Twilight Velvet and, possibly, Shining Armor and Night Light (the latter being Twilight's father). I don't take issue with what the episode is, more for what it could have been.  But hey, that's what it's like in this show.

I like the opening and ending of your videos really smooth GoldenFox.

I felt similarly to the way you did with this episode.  Daring Don't felt really weird to me the first time I watched it, although I did still enjoy it.  Like you said, the magnitude of that change was a lot to take in, so perhaps it just took me until the second or third viewing to become comfortable with it. I don't think Daring Do and her villains being real messes with Equestrian history much though.  Didn't Twilight say that Daring lived far outside of Equestria? I am a bit saddened that you didn't at least make a passing mention of Daring's ring proposal joke, though.
  • hah i really love that episode the way dash was just fangirling the crap for daring do XD and that JK roling aka yearing reference for daring dos name was a real funny concept the writes of the show decided to trow into the mix like that .Also the whole jungle scene with the cats going from the book to Owizotels enemies coming to life best part of the episode thus far there. Peace and can't wait to see your intake on The power ponies

It is a common practice of Authors basing a character off themself But, actually BEING the character is not a usual thing

Random and unsustainable you say? I think you need to go over what benefits an adventurer might have for publishing their own adventures. First, stable income (adventuring supplies are expensive, as is travel, and you certainly wont get too much plundering dusty tombs.) second if you die and you have an arch-villein when he proves to be real thousands of people know everything about him. In short, it makes prefect sence to publish your adventures. Also this episode is a godsend for world building. It proves that Equestria is the exception and not the rule for the world. Outside the Equestrian border is a dangerous place filled with adventures, other civilizations, buried secrets, and everything else fanfiction authors who want to write the series for a slightly older audience could want. This episode makes canon the possibility for High Adventure. It docent actually change anything inside of Equestria, it only adds tot he world and makes Equestria more special. How can you not like that?

Daring Don't is the kind of episode that may be like or not. But people don't talk about the legends of MLP, I mean how many are there and what are good and what are bad. Did Starswirl the Bearded made some of the magical items? When Princess Celestia vanish her sister, she was alone to defend her kingdom and the kingdom was still a new. We don't know that Celestia knows all the legends in Equestria and she must have hidden the most dangerous ones that Daring Do doesn't know and about Ahuitzotl is trying to throw the land in 800 years of heat. If Princess Celestia all ready knew about that and did nothing to hide that legend then because she can control the sun and was not that dangerous.  All the ponies know the the legends are mare tails and there not real. The number of legends talked in show was nightmare moon, the magic mirror pool, the Alicorn amulet, and the shadow pony thing. In the comics issue #9-10 when Big Mac was looking for nails in the summer wrap up festival and hoedown. The main 6 in the background were talking about the adventure of the sun stone, that is a another legend I believe. Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash  fan-talk about the Daring Do adventure they go to book 3 and then to book 4 and the last book she needs to finish. Doing some looking in to how long it takes to make a book or novel it will take as long as 1 to 3 years. So her writing the last book will take 6 more months. we add the time she would write each book or her Novels will be a year or 3. Put that in and it will take her 1 or 3 years to stop Ahuitzotl form making the legend happen. That is my Thoroughly Analyzing on the view on the episode. i want to make my own video but i don't think and anyone wants to hear me.

To be honest when I first heard about this episode, I wasn't looking forward to It. Reason being, Rainbow Dash isn't one of my liked characters... and at the time I happened to be caught up in the hype of the upcoming episode : "Pinkie Apple Pie", HOWEVER, this episode completely changed my view on Dash, due to me being able to relate to her now in many ways and such... Instead of seeing her simply as a cocky sports pony. Easily one of my favourite episodes. Awesome review too, was looking forward to seeing this :) Great stuff~ ^.^

I don't know if anyone else saw author but as soon as I saw JK Yearling's coat color and hair I knew it was Daring Do.

My sister: Exactly around 2:12 to 2:16, the book, Rainbow Dash: The Daring Do Double Dare, still doesn't know that Daring Do is real. Well, not the book. The author/characters/Mane 6.
