Remember: This isn't a theory. This is just a fun little story I decided to make that could, theoretically, fit within the universe of G5. Off the top of my head, I don't think there's anything specifically preventing this story from being canon. But I might be wrong, as there's a LOT of G5 content, which is why I didn't present this as a theory, and more of an AU idea.

Trying to connect G4 to G5 is literally like trying desperately to fit a square peg in a round hole. 😅
  • My headcanon is that sunny is just some random girl writing her own little fanfic story thingy. It would explain....everything.
  • I like to think she's chilling in the catacombs of canterlot and watching everything unfold on a crystal while she's eating hay burgers
  • @rollo_linwood
I think that one YouTube cartoon from g5 where Misty finds Starswirl's pocket dimension which connects to G1, G4, and G5 kind of makes me think G5 is legit supposed to be an AU now
  • since they can't seem to give us a straight answer in the actual show,we have to do our own thing XD
  • @psi_mae
You probably just opened the door to a few more videos Like what ever happened to the rest of the species, or the windegos, or is Hitch a descendent of Fluttershy, what happened to Sunny’s mom, etc
  • This is actually a really interesting way of trying to connect G4 to 5 I'll admit. I never would have thought about Twilight splitting herself into 3 different ponies. But it's a pretty neat concept and it would be a cool idea to an AU of how G5 came to be. Also, with what you said about potentially making G6, if you ever need any voice actors for the potential pilot, feel free DMing me. I would've messaged you on Twitter, but I saw I couldn't do that, so I'm contacting you like this lol. I have a playlist for my voice work on my channel if you want a form of reference to it all.

I built an entire narrative about how G5 is the end of the rivalry between Gusty the Great and Emperor Grogar The story begins around ten thousand years ago, back when Grogar ruled Equestria. Why did I pick ten thousand years? We know Tirek is one of the oldest characters in FiM and he only heard stories about Grogar. This likely means King Vorak also didn't know if Grogar was real or not. Ten thousand years is long enough for me to shove all of the history that needs to happen in there (well, I could hypothetically squeeze it all down to seven thousand, but nah) The Unity Crystals were actually a weapon created by Gusty the Great to defeat Grogar. Alongside her unicorn warriors, some pegasi from Cloudsdale who came to help, and a band of roaming earth ponies, she became the first alicorn. She founded the City of Skyros on a mountain, burying the Unity Crystals beneath. The reason Opaline never knew about this is because she sucks at history. However, Grogar had an apprentice, a centaur (who, for the purposes of this narrative, is G1 Tirac). This centaur founded his own kingdom to the East of Skyros. A third kingdom was founded by the draconequi. For the next era, these three kingdoms waged war across the world. In the end, the Centaur Kingdom won. Tirac trained his own student, named Sendak. The alicorns, now numbering just barely in the triple digits, retreated to Skyros. The draconequi became functionally extinct as Discord was the only survivor. By this time, the origins of the conflict had been forgotten, with only Discord being alive to have witnessed Grogar's fall. Eventually, Tirac was overthrown by a pony revolt, similar to what was seen in Rescue at Midnight Castle. This led to a broad strokes version of G1 events. Over time, the population of Skyros dwindled to about forty. Around this time, a young alicorn named Opaline was banished from Skyros. She soon found herself in the Centaur Kingdom, and after briefly overpowering Sendak, became his student alongside Tirek One day, Tirek, Scorpan, and Opaline journeyed to Skyros to gain control over the most powerful of magic. The ensuing battle caused the complete annihilation of Skyros, leaving only two survivors: Celestia and Luna. The Destruction of Skyros happened to have been around the same time as the Windigo Winter, so Celestia and Luna followed the three tribes to what would eventually be known as Equestria. Tirek and Scorpan followed the Sisters, with Opaline being a little further behind. Celestia and Luna were taken in by Starswirl, who eventually confronted and befriended Scorpan. Scorpan then borrowed the magic of Celestia, Luna, Starswirl, and Clover to battle against Tirek and return all of the magic they stole. Princess Platinum then began grooming Celestia to be her successor. Opaline saw what happened to Tirek and decided to stay away from Equestria for the time being, escaping to the south of Farasi. Some time after Nightmare Moon's banishment, Celestia and Opaline met again. Opaline's stolen magic never regenerated after being used, so by then she was much weaker than she was when she followed Celestia to Equestria. The two fought each other and were even, neither capable of overcoming the other. To avoid further pain, the two agreed to never encroach on each other's territory unless they were absolutely certain they could overcome the other. But before I can tell you that story, I have to tell you this one. Somewhere south of the original pony homeland, there was a gathering of dark mages. Founded by Veneficus Arcanus, they were ruled by the five most powerful dark mages in the area, with the strongest of them taking the title of Arcanus, or Arcana (see where I'm going with this?) Opaline one day encountered these dark mages and overcame Ambrosius Arcanus and took the title for herself, becoming Opaline Arcana. This part is a combination of Barrad and Dread League lore from Equestria At War, so I will refer to this location as Barrad from here on out. Anyway, back to the original story. After Celestia's retirement, she planned on bringing Luna and the Nightmare Knights with her to fight Opaline. However, Opaline heard of Celestia's retirement and gathered the mages of Barrad and any other supporters she had to launch an assault on Equestria. In order to defeat Opaline, Twilight journeyed to the abandoned city of Skyros and uncovered the Unity Crystals. Twilight then confronted Opaline with the Unity Crystals and defeated her. She intended to use the Unity Crystals as a physical prison, but Harmony had a different idea. Harmony used Twilight's imprisonment spell as a banishment spell and sent Opaline and the Unity Crystals to another world entirely. The magic that Opaline had stolen was returned to those she stole it from, including Prince Abraxas and Dragon Lord Ember. In this new world, the Unity Crystals crash landed in three spots: Just outside Zephyr Heights, in the middle of Bridlewood Forest, and in the waters near Maretime Bay. The Maretime Bay crystal was recovered by Argyle's ancestor, the Zephyr Heights crystal was recovered by the ancestor of the Zephyr Heights royal family, and the Bridlewood crystal remained unfound for a long time. Over time, Harmony dropped bits and pieces of the G4 world into the G5 world, most uncovered by Argyle's ancestors or Argyle himself. She also added bits and pieces of false lore to make a false narrative about how Opaline was the reason the three tribes lived separately (which was technically true. Opaline landed in the G5 world about a decade before the Unity Crystals did and she planted the seeds of distrust among them). Soon, Harmony erected the Invisibubble to keep Opaline out until the time was right. Now, as for the warring legacies of Gusty and Grogar, there was Sunny Starscout, the chosen champion of the Unity Crystals, created by Gusty the Great, fighting against Opaline Arcana, student of Sendak the Elder, student of Lord Tirac, student of Grogar himself. After Opaline's defeat, the only remaining legacy of Grogar was Cozy Glow By this point, Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow had broken out of their stone prison, however Tirek was killed protecting the other two. Cozy and Chrysalis went down to Klugetown and took over the entire thing. Cozy Glow eventually gathered all of the remaining villains in the world and sent them to attack Twilight, predicting that Twilight was going to win just like she always did. After all those villains were defeated, Cozy sent a letter to Twilight, congratulating her on bringing world peace. While Cozy hadn't exactly turned good, she was no longer an active threat, and Chrysalis got her own kingdom in Klugetown so she was also eliminated as a threat. As Cozy had zero intention of teaching someone magic, the legacy of Grogar died with her
  • You want to talk about evidence towards G5 being an alternate universe? We had a "Friendship is Magic" episode with Spike getting his wings in an obvious allegory for puberty, then Sparky was born with wings, then when Sparky meets Spike and the other dragons, none of them find anything unusual about that. Plus the G5 Breezies have much larger bodies and smaller wings than their G4 counterparts.
  • Considering Argyle Starscout said it's been 10 generations since peace was last maintained in Equestria, that would mean it's been more than 450 years since Twilight's Rule (if you equivalent Earth Pony years to human years) and the subsequent Great Division instigated by Opaline
  • The most realistic answer is she ended up like Discord. A sad miserable recluse mourning her dead friends and blaming herself for Equestrian's fall. Or she is really dead. I don’t really want to see her again after the finale.
  • @TangleHamain
Wait, hold on, I made a year ago a new land of MLP called Prismara (a land of colors and crystals, almost as an extension to the Crystal Empire) where the founder was a purple and blue Alicorn (looks nothing like Twilight though obviously) who split herself into a Unicorn, an Earth Pony and a Pegasus to protect her land!! WHAT?? That is insane!! I am insane lmao-
  • @yondaime500
    - It's a hot air balloon station. There are balloon baskets and envelopes everywhere. Pipp and Zipp even use one to try and trap Opaline in the last episode. - The complete stained glass is in the credits. If you haven't seen it, I take it you also haven't seen the post-credits scene that comes right after it. And my favorite theory about the connection between G4 and G5 is still the one by AuroraDawn. Not for kids, though.
  • Elder Flower being a descendant of Twilight also wouldn't work because she mentions being a descendant of Moon Dancer - specifically, Moon Dancer is apparently her "great-great-great-great aunt".
  • I'm not good enough to help with the g6 pilot, but I am excited at what you guys manage to do, and see what hasbro thinks (if they even respond to it).
  • @StillNoClue22
Waitt the pilot idea is so cool! I could maybe draw some concepts :D
  • I really don't see how taking away the magic from the Unicorns, Pegasi and Earth Ponies would ever help with anything, as how would they be able to do anything. We saw how well that went when Tirek took all the magic and again when Cozy Glow took all the magic - it didn't end well all the ponies knew what an utter disaster it would be and put an immediate stop it, that never involved stealing everyone's magic - it doesn't make any sense to do it and make these crystals. It is nothing more than a giant plot hole a giraffe could comfortable cartwheel through to be quite honest.
  • I agree that G5 is an alternative timeline of G4. I think that maybe certain elements of the story of G4 didn't happen for the G5 universe and that's why things are whre they are now.
