My mother taught me when we picked our cabbage and broccoli to soak it in saltwater to kill any bugs or slugs that try to hide in the leaves or flower heads, i know it's another step but they either sank to the bottom of the sink or floated and I've always done it that way. Larry

I have always been told. The messier the cook the better the food.
-
You guys have quickly become my favorite homestead family. Love all my NC homesteaders ❤
-
this is the kind of kids you get when you involve them in the world instead of filtering it through a tablet well done peepo

Maggie is so sweet, feeding lovie the goat, saying feed the cabbage with the bugs to the chickens. Jacob is like a kid in a candy store looking at all the tractors, He may just be selling them in the future ❣️

Megan ,My Mom was a canner. She canned all week long Got sick on Friday went to the hospital on Saturday, and died on Sunday. We chopped the cabbage ,packed it tight in jars, She added salt and she poured boiling water in the jar and set it aside. That's all she did to it.

Thank you all. The time spent with your family is always so special. Great video editing and creative content.

The messier the cook, the better the cooking! 😊 You all do live in a beautiful area. I love the mountains!

That Jacob is a sight! I'm his #1 fan. He is just %100 boy, makes me have hope for the next generation. Hear me talkin to ya!!
-
BTW you guys are so blessed to have all this beautiful farmland for harvesting for your family and your farm animals. ❤
-
Megan one of my best investments has been an electric pressure canner. It works great for small amounts and also you can set it and forget it. No standing and watching it for an hour or more.
-
Hello Megan and Andy, you all are doing a great job. It's always great to help out neighbors when in need.
-
Put out a few trays filled with beer to get those pesky slugs.

I'm a new viewer of your channel and I'm addicted already. I live in Arizona and nothing grows in this heat but 🌵 cactus, oranges, grapefruit and lemons. Maggie reminds me of me when I was little running around barefooted in the garden helping my grandma in the garden. Jacob keep up the good work driving that tractor!!

When it comes to keeping kraut submerged place some whole leaves on the top and then place the weights on those. To make good kraut you must keep it submerged under the juices made by mashing it.
-
You tractor guys love an excuse to go to the New Holland dealers 😂
-
Hello Andy,Megan,Jacob and Maggie😁 Your family videos have become my favorite to watch …you guys are so real and down to earth👍love that about you folks 😁 Your ways are a lot like my people Momma was born and raised in St Paul Va and dad just a ways down the road ❤ Awesome people and beautiful mountains 🦋🌸 Thanks for sharing your family and ways of life with us 🦋 Take care Brenda Carol🌸

I forgot to say I homestead just under 1 acre by the ocean. It ain’t easy growing in SAND!! But I manage with alot of raised beds and my chickens poop! I love your channel. Reminds me of my youth homesteading in Kentucky. I’m here caring for my 91 yr old daddy

Making hay when the suns a shining, great job . And Mommas in the kitchen making slaw and canning peas. All the animals will be fed well both the two legged and the four legged ones. Stay safe and keep up the fun. Fred.
