Today we are mulching our garden with hay, making more hay from the new fields, and tonight for supper we are having cube steak with gravy, peas and dumplings (yes, again), and some new potatoes! If you ain't ever eat a new potato you just don't know what your missing!

Peas and dumplings

Simmer 1-2 cups green peas until peas are tender. Add 1 tbsp butter. Add 1 cup milk. Salt, pepper to taste. Continue to simmer while you make your dumplings. For the dumplings use 1 cup self rising flour, 1 tbsp of butter or lard, cut in butter or lard like you were making biscuits. Add about 1/2 ish cup of buttermilk or plain milk. Combine. Bring pea mixture to boil. Drop in small pieces of dumpling dough. Cover and let cook around 5 minutes or until dumplings are fluffy and bready in the middle. Serve warm and enjoy!

Some friends and I were talking recently about how common it is for girls/women to prefer outdoor work over housework. I think it's because humans (and animals) were not designed to be cooped up in a building so much.

New potatoes and green beans with a little bacon - yummy 😋
  • I watch a lot of channels, but I could watch yours all day. By far my favorite. ❤

Farm life is a hard working life but such a better life.❤❤❤❤ I wish we could go backwards to simpler days before the world went mad.
  • 8 tractors! Lord have mercy! What a blessed man you are Mr. Lawson.

Oh man, peas and dumplings have me drooling! 😃🥰
  • I’m really enjoying your channel and learning about y’all and your way of life. I’m 79 years old and I remember going to visit relatives and staying a week sometimes. You are so right about the technology destroying those times. I’m very thankful that I grew up during those times. I grew up in NE Alabama. I remember mama cooking fresh green peas & potatoes. She would add a cream sauce to them. Anyway, I believe y’all are some of the most real and genuine folks I’ve found in a very long time. Your ease of being on camera is not a talent most folks have. Yall take care and keep making the videos. ❤
  • Andy my husband is so envious of all your tractors. We both love to watch you working with your tractors mowing hay and what not. He especially loves it. He just said " he has 8 tractors😮 and they are 8 GOOD tractors! "
  • Megan, you’re a good woman and along with every good woman is usually a good man and I believe that Andy’s one of um. Love your family. Much love from a proud Appalachian Kentuckian.

My husband had surgery last week and had to stay in the hospital a couple days. He couldn't sleep, of course, and he said he watched your videos to help him relax and pass the lonely time. He said it was such a blessing to be able to watch ya'll share your lives and wonderful farm family. We just love the videos. Thanks!

No truer word and needed advice, make stopping by to visit loved ones. Just sit on the porch , stand by the car, see something at the $ Tree that reminded you of them, or a small treat. As long as you let people like this 71 year old house bound grandma know that those we love and pray for are loving and praying for us too. Thank you Megan.
  • Love how down to earth you are. My kind of people. Enjoy your day
  • Glad y'all got some rain, Maggie's flowers are beautiful.
  • My wife just asked me why any man needs 8 tractors. I told her to mind her own business because I have some catching up to do. 😅😂
