We are all familiar with the mitochondria—the powerhouses of our cells, essential for energy production and overall health. This video explores the intricate relationship between mitochondrial function, insulin resistance, and dietary choices. Discover four specific foods that can significantly boost mitochondrial biogenesis and efficiency, which, in other words, help you fix your mitochondria to live longer. Get ready to optimize your cellular respiration and take your well-being to the next level.

On a high-fat diet of 30-35% of calories coming from fats as mentioned in this video, it's necessary to state: - Where the other 65-70% of calories are coming from - What types of fats we are talking about - The amount of sugars (of any type) being consumed, in what proportion relative to each meal. Regarding HFD not being "common everyday diet", perhaps this video should look into what is a "natural" diet for humans, rather than "common" these days. For over 2 million years, humans evolved eating a diet very high in natural animal fats and protein, without agriculture, eating only the occasional seasonal fruit to help with fat storage before harsh winters. Could it be that it's actually the high processed fats and excessive carbohydrates/sugars which are not mentioned in the studies, that are at the root of the health problems we see in today's society?

Dude - this was great. Wished you'd stressed the importance of magnesium not only for mitochondria itself but every piece of ATP needs to be bolted on to a piece of magnesium to be biologically active and usable: ATP-Mg2+

Most Dark chocolate brands are also high in Cadmium and lead. The chocolate brands lowest in heavy metals are Mast Organic Dark Chocolate (80% cocoa), Taza Organic Chocolate (70% cocoa), and Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate/Twilight Delight (86% and 72% cocoa, respectively)
  • I love maramba music, but cannot listen to both music and lecture and give them the attention they deserve. 😇

Sally Norton wrote a book called Oxalates which says cocoa, beets greens, spinach, almonds, chocolate, kiwi, raspberries high in oxalates which caused me 2 kidney stone operations in 20 years.

Please loose the music when you are speaking about your topic. I'm interested in your information, not struggling to hear you over the music. Thanks

Beets have an enzyme that kill polyphenols so don’t add beets to your blueberry smoothie. Eat them separately.
  • Hi Cyrus. I want to thank you for responding to viewer's questions so clearly and thoughtfully. I liked this presentation very much and appreciate the info, charts etc without lots of wordy fluff. Very "meaty"!😊
  • If you want to get a lot of genistein, note that the fermented soybean food from japan called natto has much more genistein than soybeans themselves.
  • @garyssimo
I found powdered organic beet root powder at piping rock for $14 a pound. Easy to add to smoothies etc This was great concise easy to understand info. Well done!

Thank you for posting links to the studies mentioned in this video. Great info!

Interesting, why is it that so many diabetics are going on the carnivore diet and as a result are able to get off insulin?
  • @mikechessin1450
so let's recap: 1. 1960's the AHA pronounces that saturated fat is the root cause of metabolic disease so everybody should go low-fat, high carb and the result is a surge in Type2 diabetes and obesity 2. Fast forward to 2017, and Keto catches fire. Now, Fat is good and carbs & sugar are bad 3. 2024: Looks like keto is no good either. Mitochondria is what we need to focus on, so ignore the sugar content and go wild with red grapes and dark chocolate I'm starting to get the impression that the endocrinologist profession can't make up its mind.
