Are diet and lifestyle changes the key to curing chronic dizziness from PPPD, migraines or MdDS?

Published 2022-03-06
Many of you have gone down the rabbit hole of lifestyle changes- particularly restrictive diets- in the hopes that they are going to help you feel better. As a personal trainer and strength coach, I cannot more highly recommend exercise, good nutrition, and good lifestyle habits. That said, there are some dangers to obsessively pursuing these changes with the goal of curing your dizziness. In this video, I explain a constructive way to think about these kinds of changes that will help you approach them in a different way.

WOW, i had a feeling that this was causing my dizziness and you've clarified it!!
  • what you are doing is amazing. you are such a teacher. it is so precious to feel understood and supported. you give us hope. Thanks very muchšŸ™
  • Yes!!! I had started on a very strict diet when I got a preliminary diagnosis of migraine and it added so much stress it made my chronic dizziness worse. I ultimately abandoned it and after clear MRIs the neurologist didnā€™t even confirm the initial diagnosis so Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t continue to make myself anxious over foods. I only wish doctors knew more about dizziness because being given no diagnosis can really leave you feeling lost. Iā€™m grateful to have found you, your course and videos.

I have realized that for me exercising outside, not in a gym, with the music I like is key. I work in the afternoons and I need the morning sunshine. I live in Malaga (the coast of sun), so fortunately for me is easy.

Thank you for all your amazing videos, Iā€™ve had pppd for about 5 months now, it has drastically changed my life. I was wondering if I could do a session with you. If thats possible. Thank you
  • Great vidĆ©o...thank you for your precious support. When i dont feel good i watch your vidĆ©os to remember me that healing is possible. What do you think about CBD and acupuncture in order to increase the tolĆ©rance?

This was exactly what I needed to hear right now! I was diagnosed with vestibular migraines a couple of months ago and for the last two and a half years have had constant 24/7 off balance feeling with Visual issues. Started the Elimination Diet but I feel myself focusing a lot more on what I can't eat and if I try something not on the diet excessively looking for a change in how my body feels and it's driving me nuts! I will definitely continue to watch this video and try to ease myself back into a normal diet
  • Iā€™m watching this as Iā€™m obsessing over sleep (as you might be able to tell from my posts on the community haha) and actually this video actually resonates in that sense as well if Iā€™m understanding this correctly. So in sleep example, same as diet, good sleep would increase the bucket which is great, but not the key ingredient to improve the dizziness or lack of it to directly make it worse? Whereas obsessive focus/worry about sleep is probably much worse in that sense? Am I correct in assuming that?

John from the UK , I have only recently found I am suffering from PPPD. Your info is so extremely helpful, poor sleep, stress makes my condition worse. I am looking into Sleep Apnoea with my GP to see if wearing an Apnoea mask will help my breathing issues particularly in the night and mornings. Thank you so much for your help and support. I wish I could find someone local to me to talk to , I live in Pembrokeshire SW Wales U K.

Nice videos as usual! What about supplements? The doctor who diagnosed me with pppd told me to take betahistine, piracetam and alpha gpc. I already take vitamin c/d and magnesium. I used also to take omega 3 and vit b, what do you think?
  • Vegan here. It is good to keep one's body in shape especially when trying to balance all day long with MdDS. However, I agree, the diet aspect can just make it worse although if you have an autoimmune issue like me with Hashimotos, foods that do not cause an inflammatory response is preferred.
  • Hi! So Iā€™ve just been trying to avoid processed foods, sugars (desserts), and white flours (just eating whole wheat carbs) etc. basically eating a whole food diet. I have been avoiding some things deemed as ā€œtriggersā€ like nuts and citrus. Which Iā€™m sure are fine to eat. Do you have any advice for how to go about reintroducing foods? Itā€™s been so long since Iā€™ve had a cookie or ice cream or something like that šŸ˜‚ Iā€™m nervous what the sugar will do to my system in general (not just the dizziness) but would love to not be avoiding those things forever and allow myself to enjoy every once in awhile. Any tips welcome. Thanks!
  • how do they test to see if its meniere's? and does that go away or can you lead a normal life with it?
  • @Rising497
So would this mean that my increased symptoms after gluten / sugar / caffeine is more to do with the stress response this induces?
  • @revaholic
If I find that the act of eating immediately triggers floaty/dizzy symptoms, regardless of what type of food it is, what could I do while eating to manage these symptoms?
