Many people with neural circuit dizziness (symptoms of PPPD, MdDS, vestibular migraine, long-term uncompensated or decompensated neuritis, post-concussion syndrome) suffer from horrible health anxiety in addition to their already distressing dizziness symptoms. In this video, we explore the link between health anxiety & neural circuit dizziness and why you definitely need to work on your health anxiety to recover from dizziness. Then we talk about how trying to bypass or fix the anxiety doesn't work for many people, and I give you a new strategy for working with it that you may not have encountered before.

I believe this is so true. After going through a severe anxiety, my body has not been the same.

My health anxiety worsened over the last few years. And last year I went through a really stressful period. After that is when my light headedness started. I am an anxious person and hope I can manage this because it's horrible
  • My health anxiety started when I was younger. In school we were getting the meningitis jab and I was paranoid about getting the illness. I said to my Mum what would you do if I got it and died and she said she wouldn't want to live anymore. I remember being horrified. So ever since then I was obsessed with illnesses and not dying for my Mums sake. So now with this 24/7 dizziness my anxiety is so high and having panic attacks almost daily. But your videos have seriously become a lifeline for me.

Dr Yonit, I just want to say thank you so very much for these videos they have seriously changed my life. I experienced random dizziness for over a year now. I had my first panic attack from the dizziness not knowing where it was coming from. After that attack I started disassociating badly and I thought I was seriously going crazy and developed severe health anxiety. Pure hell. Fast forward to now, a chiropractor diagnosed me with whiplash from an incident I had before my dizziness. During my treatment now I’ve had continuous dizziness and I’ve had to do alot of the techniques you teach to rewire my brain. My anxiety is very low now. I am able to turn off the alarms in my brain before they go wild. You’re videos helped me to know that I was never crazy and that all I felt was NORMAL. I still disassociate from time to time but instead of fighting it I listen to it and embrace it and it starts to disappear quicker than it did before.

I am feeling 95 percent better. Last week noticed differences and every day got better and better. Feeling so well flying next week with my oldest son and going on a surfing trip. Pppd and vm. After 7 months just like it’s gone. I assume this is a good thing? Anxiety is still a big one for me. Worst in the mornings upon waking in the mornings

Looking at anxiety (and other symptoms) as a third person and just observing and being curious about it. I've been practising somatic tracking for about 6 months now and it helps so much with learning acceptance and just being able to sit with your symptoms, rather than react to them. It really helps with breaking the fear/symptom cycle

Thank you for your awesome advice. I'm dealing with my first episode of vestibular migraine, and you have helped me so much already. Keeping a positive attitude, giving that scared part of me a voice, and yes, the irritated part of me too, has been helpful to keep the anxiety smaller. I'm doing what I can, believing I'll get better, and giving myself a lot of grace. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for this video I’ve been feeling anxious these past few days to the point where I kept feeling like I was going to pass out and I couldn’t calm myself down but I sat down and watched this video and it comforted me and your tips helped a lot rlly fast
  • Excellent video Dr. Yo. Understanding that our brains are really trying to protect us was a key concept for me. Thanks for all your hard work!
  • @mnp2284
Very well explained and there is no fear at all recognising the voice of irritation and speaking back to it mindfully. And in not fueling the irritated voice, the paradox is it goes away.
  • @kaustavhalder
Makes so much sense. Thanks. Health anxiety does trigger a lot a things.
  • @jasodan72
Thank you again for your videos. So insightful. I wish I could just turn off the over thinking, but I know that is not possible and so I will keep trying your technique you shared.
  • @sumarian472
Thank you so much dr . You may not know or maybe you know how it feels like when someone understands your problem and tell you how to get out of it . Thank you so much

My anxiety started after an accident. Education has been what has worked for me. Once I educated myself on the symptoms of anxiety and how and why they manifest I noticed that my anxiety started to reduced in intensity and frequency. You also have to allowed the feeling to come knowing deep down that you’re going to be ok. Be kind to yourself, light exercise, meditation.
  • God bless you and thank you so much for this video. My disability lawyer told me the other day after speaking with me that I sounded like a hypochondriac. I never really thought about that until he said that. I felt very insulted and embarrassed. Then I got to thinking about it and then I researched it of what it meant and now there’s a new terminology “health anxiety”. And then I just was checking some of your videos as I always do and I chose this video to watch today and I am so happy that I did because this hit it right in my heart and my brain where I need it the most today. Thank you so very much for this video. You are a godsend.

I think this is in part what Im going through. 3 months ago I had a case of BPPV, it was quickly cured with an epley maneuver. Since then Ive had residual dizziness or light/heavy headedness. Its gotten worse over the last month or so. I just had a physical this week.....I now have high blood pressure ~155/95.......was never an issue before. I think my obsession with the dizziness has stressed my body which leads to increasing blood pressure. The increase in BP has an effect on the dizziness which stresses me more.......and the circle continues. There are times when I dont feel any dizziness........when I'm actively, physically engaged in some sort of activity.......like yard work. I can work in the yard for 2 hours and not have one episode or even a thought about dizziness. Ill then sit down for a break and boom! I can feel it again and I start thinking about it. If I can somehow keep my brain busy on other thoughts I could do better. Doesnt help much when half my youtube feed is filled with dizziness videos :)
