I love how being vegan is becoming more and more accessible every day šŸ¤—

Thank you for this. Iā€™ve been vegan for three weeks, and I feel great. In 2018, I had three back-to-back heart attacks. Last week my doctor said I could stop taking all seven of my heart medications. After decades of struggle, Iā€™m finally making real progress.

Iā€™d never eaten a lentil until I started moving from vegetarian to vegan, but now theyā€™re my main protein. I love them so much. And they cost nearly nothing.

I've been vegan/vegetarian for 7 years now despite constant, daily ridicule from my family. I showed my mom What the Health today and she was shocked. She now wants to be plant based. What a day! šŸŽ‰

One of my favorite quotes from Deepak Chopra is, ā€œPeople are doing the best that they can from their own level of awareness.ā€ And I love that and I tell myself that whenever I make a mistake.
  • Thanks. I hear too many stories when I tell people I'm vegan "Oh yeah, so-and-so family member of mine tried that and after 2 months they had lost 60lbs and were passing out frequently" They look surprised when I immediately know the problem and tell them, "Oh yeah, that's when people mess up the diet and don't eat enough calories. I've been vegan for a year."
  • I was vegan for 8 years, turned vegetarian for the past 4 years and now Iā€™m making my way back to being vegan. I just found out in February that wine is NOT vegan unless stated by the company! I since found a company that has all vegan wine. I didnā€™t beat myself up for not researching how wine is made. It can be discouraging but you have to keep moving forward. A hidden ingredient being consumed every now and then doesnā€™t compare to eating them everyday all day! Thank you for this video ā¤ļø

I'm a vegan already, I just like watching your vidsšŸ˜šŸ˜
  • iā€™m so glad she highlighted ethnic foods!! we often associate vegan/plant based diets with white people or boring tasteless foods. we should all be comfortable to bring and KEEP our traditions in the kitchen. thank you!
  • I love this! I went to Kenya for a month and it was amazing how many people told my husband and I that we were going to starve as vegans traveling to Africa! It was the opposite, All the resorts we went to catered to us and made us vegan meals every day, and when we stayed with his family they fed us delicious meals that they already knew how to make. It's just surprising how much they eat that is vegan without them even realizing.

I think one thing I would add: if going from omnivore to vegan is too hard for you, don't put so much pressure on yourself. Start slow. Maybe start pescetarian or vegetarian. After you're comfortable and feel like you've figured it out, go vegan. Doing SOMETHING is always better than trying to do to all, fail and then give up! šŸ‘

Why does gluten free get enmeshed with vegan? Like, whatā€™s up with thatā€½ a carnivore diet is gluten free, why should vegans avoid gluten? Obviously people with celiac disease need to avoid gluten, but thatā€™s completely independent of eating meat or not. More than once Iā€™ve been in a restaurant and asked if they have vegan choices and been told ā€œwe have a number of gluten free dishesā€ and Iā€™m like, ā€œthatā€™s nice but do you have anything made without meat, eggs, or dairy?ā€ and I get a blank stare in return.

People: ā€œvegans have to cut out glutenā€ Seitan: ā€œI might have something to say about thatā€
  • @IrvinLep
I would add another mistake that many people make: going waaay overboard with fiber too early in their "transition". If someone has had a standard 15-20g of fiber a day western diet, when they introduce more veggies, oatmeal for breakfast, legumes once a day, they will have a lot of GI issues. I think meat substitutes and tofu/seitan/tempeh for protein and pasta/white rice for carbs should be the staple in the early weeks of a vegan diet, together with probiotics to help your gut biome adjust to the new lifestyle

Thank you, Nisha. I have been a vegetarian (later turned vegan) for 28 years. I also live in the heart of ranching and farming country, so my diet is often challenged by people and frowned upon. I grew up on a dairy farm and ranch, actually. I was exposed to a lot of animal cruelty, and this was the main reason I stopped eating meat at 18 years of age. Your channel has really helped me cook some delicious foods, and even my meat-eating husband is raving about. =) Also, I've had multiple blood tests through the years, and the dr has always told me my results are absolutely perfect, so it is possible to be vegan and get all the nutrients you need. =)
  • I wish my family would support me more :( Iā€™ve been vegan for over a year and a half now and they still donā€™t seem to understand nor care to learn but thatā€™s ok like you said itā€™s a personal decision you make for yourself and everyone has their own journey in life ā¤ļø

Thank you for including other countries. As a vegan for almost 4 years that has been my favorite part is trying different recipes from around the world.

Girrrrrl! Your mushroom stroganofffff! My husband eats it and I donā€™t tell him itā€™s vegan. The recipe is brilliant!
