How to Fish: Caddisfly Fly Fishing Strategies | GoFishBC

Published 2018-07-02
Learn how to catch trout in this beginners' guide to fishing. The caddisfly is a popular food source for trout and other fish in British Columbia’s lakes. Freshwater fishing expert Brian Chan covers the lifecycle of the caddisfly and fishing strategies for targeting trout feeding on the caddisfly hatch, which occurs each year in late June/ early July in B.C.

Brian shows examples of caddisfly dry flies, explains the optimal gear set-up, and illustrates retrieval techniques. The angler’s goal is to imitate the behaviour of the hatching caddisfly so that trout will snap up the fly.
