How to Treat A Stye? In this video I review Eye Stye Home remedies.

*Note: A stye is different from a chalazion (not reviewed in this video)
A chalazion is a clogged oil gland on the internal eyelid but NOT infected. These are best treated with frequent warm compresses and occasionally oral medication. Ultimate treatment for non-resolving chalazia includes surgical removal/drainage and/or steroid injection.

  • Everyone in the comments are like “Who’s here with a stye in your eye??” Why else would I be here?
  • I can't even get this checked out because of this freaking pandemic that we're in. It's annoying my right eye

DRY uncooked rice in a clean cloth or sock , microwave for 40 seconds, stays very warm for a long time!

Did anyone else came here because you have a stye and can't afford a Hospital Trip😭😭??

I just visited my eye doctor about a stye and bloodshot eye. He gave me a steroid/anti-biotic eye drop and some cleansing wipes for my lids. Your video went into far more detail. Thanks.

I get a few styes a year, and I have found the best way to get constant heat is too boil water, put in into a small jar (e.g. jam jar), use a towel to hold the body (so you don't burn your hand) and put a few layers of tissue paper over the lid/base and just hold that to the eye. If it starts feeling less warm, take off a layer of tissue (I usually start off with 3 layers to keep it from being too hot). This usually lasts the 10-15 minutes of warmth.

On Thursday I got a sty, 1st time in my life. I looked for info on what it was and came across your video. I did exactly as you suggested. I did 20 min hot compress every 4 hours for 2 days and used hydroclor and I had some amoxicillin. By Sunday it was gone. Just a little bit sore but the swelling is gone and the white pimple looking sty on my inside upper eyelid. I actually felt the sty draining at time ( eeew ). So thanks Doctor. I'm forever greatful
  • hello my friends im here to share my experience from having a stye personally. I get them every 1-2 years and they usually stay on for months. I was also told if you get styes alot its proabbly from the lack of seafood if you dont eat any. My latest experience was from october to december. As soon as i noticed it getting big enough to be seen i started the hot compress almost 6x a day and kept going to the doctor for medication and ointment. Unfortunately after 3 different doctors and medications i gave up hope. The stye was already on my eye for 2 months so i was getting desperate. I started paying more attention to videos on youtube and home remedies online. Me personally started seeing results the most from washing my stye with baby shampoo 3x a day and also putting tea tree oil on while still doing the hot compress 3x a day. Within a week and a half of doing this i started seeing immediate results way more effective than the doctor and all their medications they recommended. Sorry for the long talk but just hope i can help anybody else going through it! i know the depression and how difficult it can be having it so trust me your not alone.

It also helps me to boil an egg and wrap it in a sock or paper towel for a hot compress. Strange, but it's the perfect shape for your eye socket and retains heat for a long time!
  • @pianoatthirty
Boil an egg. It stays warm for a long time and is very easy to target the affected area. Plus you can always reboil it and use it again. Doctor gave me that advice years ago and it has ALWAYS helped with any stye I've had.
  • @Dariusissocool
My eye doctor told me to do warm compresses years ago went I got contacts. Never knew it had to be 10mins 4x a day

Thank you. I've been developing a stye the last couple of days. No health coverage or money and who the hell wants to be in a doctor's office these days? Watched this video half an hour ago and already enjoying some relief from the discomfort and inflammation. Again, thank you.

I'm a pediatric RN and I have a child (6) with a sty. Good luck with the warm compress. A video for what to do with children might help. I like this video. I can tell you are a good physician. ❤️
