The car's Owner is Edward Althouse. Edward’s had this car since 2019. He shares he saw the car, and shared with his Father to look at the car in 2003, and his Father bought it. In 2019, his Father sold this car to him. This car went through a restoration and looks to be in showroom new condition.

  • Now, that is definitely a rare roof option! The whole car looks great as well. I love how Edward is keeping this one in the family, too. Thanks, Lou!

WOW!! Such a classic example MOPAR muscle! Perfect color, trim, engine, etc. Yep, still sounds like a MOPAR when starting up! Thanks Lou for a great morning treat!

Have never seen a soft canvas top Demon ever. Another rare gem from Lou and this is a sweet sounding 340. Congrats to owner. Great vid guys. Thanks!

Absolutely gorgeous 😍.Had a Red 73 Duster 340 dual exhaust pipes coming out near the rear tires t/a radials six pack dual white stripes from front fenders to rear panels saying 340.😢Gone but not forgotten.
  • Amazing! That's what I call a "screamin demon!" What a awesome example a raw Mopar power for such a small vehicle at the time! Thanks again for making my day Lou!

Glad to see the V3X Demon survive I have a 1972 Duster with (V3X) sunroof. At 8 years old I was with my dad in 1972 at the dealership when he bought it. It was my first car in 1979, now I am 57 and I still have it currently its being restored, would like to meet Edward Althouse.

Thanks for this great Car Story Lou! I have never seen a roof like this on a Demon (Duster etc). It’s great that he kept the car in the family. He is a great custodian of automotive history.

I knew a guy that had a ‘71 orange Demon with the slant-6. He bought and affixed a factory decal kit with the 340 stickers for the rear quarter panels. It had the steel rally wheels, but they were narrow, and it had the dinky little tailpipe hanging out the back. It was amusing as hell when driving down the highway and some guy would roar up to have a go, only to realize it was a six!!

This is definitely a rare car a Dodge Demon 1972 with a soft sunroof you don't get to see too many demons opposed to the Plymouth Duster very awesome treat Lou
  • The sun roof is rare but I found it more interesting how the dealership installed the rear gull wing without having the cut outs in the trunk from the factory.
  • That's a Sweet 🎂🍒 72 Demon 340 keep it coming..I remember those hotrods back in the day!!
  • What a beautiful, beautiful car. I bought my 72 Demon new, with a 318 and a four speed from the dealer. I never had any idea there was a sunroof option. However what intrigues me is the small Pentastar badge behind the right front wheel; typical Chrysler adornment for all their vehicles. Mine didn’t have one, and what I seem to remember is that those were discontinued for the 1972 model year. A friend of mine got one and mounted it for me as a surprise, which I thought made my vehicle really special…though not as special as Edward’s Sizzler Package. What a beauty.

Love that Mopar, the company Who did the sunroof also did a limited production of convertible Mustang 2's in the 70's

I remember my college buddy's basic/mundane Duster, this one is a far cry from that for sure. Nonetheless, we had so much fun in Pond's "ruster duster", even with pieces rusting off and the passenger door that would fly open when making left hand turns.
  • That's the fist I've ever seen with a sunroof the rear spoiler adds a nice touch I remembered the seats would get hot regardless of chrome strips vinal seats would wake one up in a nanosecond love the hemi orange on a demon/ duster /dart

Hi, Lou! This car was built for only two years as the Demon, but it continued for another four years with a different name, Dart Sport. This was after Dodge took a lot of flack for the Demon name, largely from Christian groups. AC/DC can take one on the Highway to Hell if they want, but personally I don't think I would want a car with that name, either. As for that sunroof, I can think of a couple of other cars from this period that offered a folding sunroof similar to the one on Edward's car. One was the AMC Hornet Sportabout wagon, and the Buick Skylark Sun Coupe. Also, the early Nash Rambler convertibles had a similar kind of top that rolled over the window rails. Thanks, Lou and Edward for this rare presentation.

I bought a 1972 Demon 340 in 1980 for $800. It ran fine, body and interior were in good shape. It was a 4spd car with factory A/C, ps, pb, 323 sure grip. Also had the factory scoop like this one. It was canary Yellow with black interior. Shoulda kept it, Lol
