On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-19-21.

We’re looking at a 1971 Plymouth Cuda in Plum Crazy Purple Paint. The car features a 426 CI V8 “Hemi” engine, with a 4 Speed manual transmission.

The car's Owner is Dave Suruk. Dave’s had this car since 2016. Dave shares he’s always been a Hemi Car Fan, and this one was just too good to pass up. This car looks showroom new. The car also has a factory Dictaphone for recording your voice and putting your thoughts on cassette tapes.

  • I believe the '71 is the holy grail ! This is my absolute favorite of all time and always has been since I was a kid . My high school sweet heart's Dad had one and yes , we did it on the hood of the car ! 😋 Thank you for bringing back some great memories !

I rode in a Hemi Challenger once with the 4-10 pack and aside from being held back in the seat I'll never forget the tire noises that the car would make when he'd start to pour on the fuel. I've never heard tires make noises like that before. There's so much power you're just flirting with traction trying to put it all to the ground. Tire punishment noises extraordinaire.
  • @riccocool
That is a perfectly optioned Cuda. Couldn't be any better.

I'm here to see my car in the background ... Great Show, Great People .. Thank you for bringing this to the world

This show must be a lot of fun, hearing all that talking and laughter in the background. Love this cuda. There was one just like it in my neighborhood when I was a kid, but it was a convertible. My jaw would always drop when seeing it go by. Thanks, Lou!

Goodday Lou, Finally get some time on my own to enjoy the things I like doing & like you say " Straight off the bat " , youtube & watch Lou's Channel. What a great interview with Dave, he seems like a top guy love how he gives it to the Chevy & Ford guys with the block of cheese through the front grill whilst you tell me your sad story. The best line " HEMI PULLING STRONG ", that is a bumper sticker if I ever heard one. Back to the Cuda. 1971 Hemi Cuda, 4 speed, Dana 60. Many consider the ultimate American Muscle Car back in the day. Who am I to argue absolutely stunning & also fantastic that Dave restored this treasure from a lonely life in the barn for all of us to enjoy. Can't decide between the 71 & the 70, like splitting hairs so both Cuda's get my vote. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍 ❤

A 71 Hemi 'Cuda in that interesting purple! If I understand correctly, Dodge called it Plum Crazy, but since this is a Plymouth, it's called In Violet here. That Hemi sounds ready for some 4 speed gear bangin action!

a buddy had a new '70 Cuda & it really hauled. One night at a house party he 'disappeared' for over an hour. I found the Cuda's windows really steamed up & moaning comin from inside. He went from the '13 second man' (1/4 mile) & I nicknamed him 'the hour & 20 min. man' after that.

Very correct restoration. I like the gills on the fenders. The dictaphone is an interesting option. I like the black shaker. I knew the 70's were silver. I would be tempted to paint it white. By slimmest of margins, I'll take the 70, but would love to have either in my garage. Thanks for the treat Lou.
  • @pappy017
    personally, I'm goin '70! Any E-body-Wins!! Happy T-day, Lou!!
  • @67stingray1
Any HEMI is Great. Any HEMI Cuda is Great but I'm leaning toward the 70. Thnx for sharing Lou.
  • Always liked the 71 Cuda grill the best. That 8 track with dictation was probably a really expensive option. Rare Cuda great video as always Lou
  • I had the pleasure to do all the metal work on this car. Nice to see a video of it.❤️🏁 Something about purple is eye catching, but I like the black 1970 as much.
  • @Barry_Davis
I vote for Dave’s ‘71 Cuda. The cheese grater grill sold me.
  • As always, Mr. Lou, another great episode. The Chevy guys whining remark was hilarious, I enjoyed that. But, old Bowties still rule!
  • @Slimjim260
Maybe the best one yet Lou , wow that one and Cale Yarborough 390 Cyclone. Wanted to hear the 426 idle some more???! Nicely Done though.
