True friends want to see you succeed, but they will also be truthful and push you when you're messing up.
  • So just like clothes, as you get bigger your friends no longer fit you. Gotcha
  • @oiramet
Same goes for family members.... the closest people sometimes can be your worst enemy. Brothers, fathers, cousins. They may need to be completely cut out in order to meet the true potential within yourself.
  • Realizing this is crucial to growth, but WAY harder than people make it out to be
  • It's even more glaring when you work in the community, and start to partner/collaborate with other organizations. It's like you're on different radio frequencies, especially when you notice people in cliques and herd mentalities/mindsets. You can't relate to them after a while, because you see they've settled for the average, while your mindset is seeing things that the average can't/won't see.

Omg! This was the first step in getting healthier for me. I drank heavy for years and stayed up late. I replaced almost all of my friends 3 years ago when I stopped drinking.
  • That’s what I need to do I’m sick of the disrespects especially with negative people.

how do you do it though, just don't meet them? tell them up front? what to say when they ask why you are avoiding them? i completely agree and have done that and in "hard times" i go back to them bc they ask why i simply avoid them now
  • If your circle of friends are heavy drinkers, likes to party, you will become like them and don't expect you will be successful in life.
