Curcumin is an organic chemical found in the root vegetable turmeric. Turmeric in the ginger family. It looks similar to ginger but it has a vibrant yellow-orange color. Turmeric is used as a spice to flavor curry and gives it the yellow color. There have been several studies showing that curcumin produces a modest improvement in depression. In this video I show you how curcumin helps depression and depression mixed with anxiety.

Youve been hitting every single thing I've been trying this year and now turmeric? Love it thanks Tracey!
  • @addysaw
Yayy to these kind of videos! And it's spot on! Over the years I've applied everything you said about treating depression (high doses of omega 3s, probiotics, Magnesium supplementation, and a few more) and I definitely noticed an improvement in most symptoms. Antidepressants scare the hell out of me after having bad experiences with them, so these suggestions are so nice to learn about. Thanks!

That last point was the best for me, layering solutions. I appreciate the point that if you try one thing and it doesn't work, you presume all things don't work. Good explanation for why it is best to take a layered approach.
  • @YevetteGooden
The example of multiple streams of income versus layering treatments really clarified things for me. Thank you!
  • You are helping me more than my actual therapist, and I’m so grateful! You and Emma McAdam of Therapy in a Nutshell have saved me from my anxiety and panic disorder, which have been chronic and debilitating, especially over the last couple of years. You’ve taught me so much about right-thinking that I’m also using both of you in my son’s homeschool curriculum to help him develop emotional intelligence, and he is quite happy to learn from you. He’s on the spectrum, and you are so easy for him to understand, so clear and thorough. He’s learning so much, as am I! Again, so grateful! Thank you!
  • I was disappointed to find out that wasn’t a Cheeto. Seriously though. Thank you for what you do. This channel has helped me a lot!
  • Dr Tracey is the only content creator I need to take notes from. So much information and all without the fluff of other channels.

I do not suffer from depression but use turmeric for gut issues. I learned a lot from this video. I just wanted to say that you are a welcomed gem in the sea of YouTube! I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying your channel, your pleasant and straight-forward and no-nonsense guidance. Thank you.
  • @Vashtibucket
Thank you for making this series engaging and easy to grasp. Turmeric is hard to come by here but I’m going to see if I can find some at my local Asian markets. I have had some setbacks with exercise and intermittent fasting by getting a little too aggressive with my goals but I realized when I went at my own pace and didn’t compare my progress to others I did much better and I felt great. I also watched your video on magnesium and I started buying bags of pumpkin seeds and eating them every day.

The way you explain things is so eloquent and makes sense. Love your videos. Thank you from a future PsyD student!

Thank you so much Dr. Marks! A lot of what I have been going through is grief, as I lost my dad early 2020 and my mom to a UTI from depression months ago. The Pandemic also seemed to change my personality to sadness. I have to do some self work every day to get through it all. So many people have it worse than me, so I feel guilty for feeling depressed. You help a lot. THANK you so much for your channel!
  • @strigoviro5785
You never fail to amaze me, Dr. Tracey! Your information is absolutely amazing and would rarely if ever be provided by the "average" psychiatrist. I love the fact that you provide alternatives to medications to help with depression and anxiety. You are TRULY a "gift" and I thank you for creating and freely sharing these videos. You are improving and saving lives EVERY DAY! (More than you'll ever know). Again, my deepest gratitude for all you do and for the unique blessing you are to this world and to this very specific field of healing. This information EMPOWERS people and provides the much needed information to help ourselves in our healing journey!

Hey Doc, I really appreciate your channel. I started the magnesium citrate a week ago and already notice a difference in my general mood. As for curcumim, I've used it for some time and found it useful for treating my pain. Thanks so much for this series.
