Thanks Joby, I have found your uploads to be indispensable when learning how to use BaseCamp. Much better than any other way. Thanks again 👍

Great video and now subscribed. Quick question, is there a way to change the map font on Mac version? Thanks.

Hi Joby, Update on symbol described in my previous message. I have found out that it is a warning of the total delay in minutes and is activated by the Navigator / SmartLink smartphone app when following a route. When activated it flashes up a message on the top of the Navigator stating "total delay in minutes" This message disappears within seconds but the icon with the number of minutes, car and clock remain. I believe it stays there while ever the delay is valid. I noticed it increments and decrements until the delay is null. Interestingly it seems independent of the arrival time displayed on the Navigator at the bottom of the screen. I believe that getting it's data from the smartphone means the changes are much more granular than the changes in the displayed arrival time. I have trawled the web to see if I could find out the triggers for this alert but like many of Garmin products any info is hard to find. Anyway at least I know what it is trying to tell me but its usefulness is still up for debate. regards John M

Hi Joby, Thanks for your videos, I have found them excellent. I have a BMW Navigator V running the latest maps and software. I occasionally get a unrecognized icon displayed on the left hand side of the screen while riding. Its a car symbol with clock above and a time reading in the format eg, 00:02 below the car symbol. Have you ever come across this or a list of symbols? I have trawled the web and Garmin website but cannot find any references to such a symbol. Not necessarily important but I would love to know what it represents. Anyway keep up the good work John M BMW R1200RT rider in OZ
  • I thought all that would/should happen automatically on first turning the sucker on 😂 I may stick to using a paper map after watching this. Thank you for the info, about to watch How to create Base map from scratch Obviously I'm computer illiterate and have difficulty using this iPad and smartphone By the way would my iPad be classed as a computer as in your instructionals? Thanks for your posts and keep em coming 🇦🇺🏍😘
  • I have my Rino 755T attached but I do not get the install map option in Garmin Express on my Mac. what gives?

Thanks for the tutorial....... I'm faced with a HUGE problem. I updated Basecamp 4.8.4 64 bit & Garmin Express this week after updating my O.S. to Mojave 10.14.4 on my 2016 15" MacBook Pro. I'm trying to create a route with waypoints. As soon as I create/drop a third waypoint in the route window, Basecamp crashes. I deleted the Basecamp and reloaded all updates and retested, it still crashes in the same manner. I inserted several Route Points with no problem on the map after I drag/dropped "two" route waypoints in the route window but, as soon as I drag/drop a "third" waypoint into the route window, Basecamp crashes. I also noticed after reopening Basecamp, the Global map appears instead of City Navigator. My newly updated City Navigator is 2020.1 version 23.10 which is the correct updated map. I'd like to add, I didn't have this issue with Basecamp 32 bit in O.S. High Sierra. Thanks again for your tutorial. Ray

Hi Joby, I cannot find the option "Install to computer". do you know where is located on the new version of Garmin Basecamp for Mac?
  • I downloaded BaseCamp from the App Store rather than Garmin. It’s the latest 64gb version
