If anyone from Garmin is watching this then I suggest you pay this man to create tutorials for your software and hardware customers as so far you don't seem to have bothered. I have a Garmin GPSMAP 66s that I am new to and there is very little information out there how to use the device and link it with the Basecamp software. This video pretty much showed me everything I need to create, file and organise the routes I create on the trail and when I am in front of my computer. Much appreciated Joby!!
  • I've been looking at Garmin tutorials for hours. Yours are the best.
  • Thanks for sharing this. Have recently switched to a Mac so really useful. Great pace - youā€™re a natural.

Thank you so much for putting this together, I have recently transferred over to Garmin after purchasing a BMW motorbike - until this video I was pulling my hair out with frustration. Much appreciated!

this is really outstanding. excellent. thanks for your efforts and attention to detail.
  • Well, that was amazing. I was back at school, your video (with Base Camp on my Right Screen) to follow the moves. It isnā€™t easy I can seeā€¦ā€¦., but workable. Thank you so much!.I would have thrown the program in the CANAL if it wasnā€™t for your excellent ā€˜Englishā€ teaching. Nice!ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦. Looking forward to the next production!

Your tutorial is outstanding - thankful someone like you has done this for Mac. Question - I have an existing route to which I'd like to add some shaping points so in case I get off the route I can be guided back to the planned route rather than be guided to the ultimate destination. Only way I've found to do it is to add Waypoints and then make them non-alerting. Thinking there must be a better way with less steps but I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

Good Morning Joe. For the life of me I can't seem to figure out why my XT isn't recognized by base camp. I'm using a '20 M1 MacBook running Big Sur. I've added a 128gb microSD expecting to see the card mounted after connecting via USB to the macbook. Not so. Lastly, I removed the card, reformatted it using Disk Utility (ExFAT), then moved a GPX file I exported from Rever Maps to the card. After inserting the card to the XT, I cannot see the new route added. Maybe it's the M1 or the formatting. As a last resort, I could ask my son to use his Windows machine to help me out, but it would be more ideal to resolve this one the M1 Mac. Thanks for the great videos. You're crushing it!

Really Good tutorial...Thankyou. I can download the map of Canada to my computer as I live in Canada - but I am planning a route in Scotland. Is there a way for me to download the Europe map that I have purchased to my computer?
