Did anyone else notice that the guy is just a guy, whereas the bear is a BEAR? Because I don't think whoever arranged this match noticed this.

According to Kobayashi, they had a rehearsal where he beat the bear. For the contest, later the bear handler admitted he had not fed the bear for 24 hours and so the results were much different.
