Better Call Saul: Ace Attorney (Spoilers)

To be fair, Chuck's disorder does seem like something straight out of Ace Attorney.

I just noticed that Chuck winced in pain when Jimmy put the empty cell phone on the table in front of him. Great subtle hint to Chuck's illness being psychological and not physiological

I actually just realized how smart Jimmy is here. He set up two different red herrings for Chuck: his ex-wife being there, and the phone without the battery. And Chuck takes the bait on both of them. He's intentionally making himself look like a bad lawyer relying on simple gambits and it works. He knows that Chuck thinks that he'll go for plays like that because Chuck thinks Jimmy's a bad lawyer and he took advantage of that. Obviously the phone was a ploy, but the ex-wife was subtle enough to make it look like he was on his last legs. Very smart.

I really want a defendant in the next Phoenix Wright game to be accused of defecating through a sun roof

The four hit combo after Huell says, "Hour and forty-three minutes. -_-" had me dying.

It's amazing how this series even makes the viewer feel like Jimmy is innocent even though you obviously know hes not

If youre inocent, call phoenix wright, if youre guilty, better call saul

"There's a lantern on top of newspapers." Major foreshadowing.

The flashback scene with the grayed out effects is INCREDIBLE dude.

the music in the back of this really shows just how important audio mixing in a TV show is for setting the tone, particularly the music that plays when Jimmy makes Chuck pull the phone battery out of his pocket. In this video it feels triumphant because of the music, when in the show, with no music accompanying it, it just felt sad.

9:05 you know how every Ace Attorney has the bad guy freak out in some weird over the top fashion? This is Chuck's freak out.

Damn chuck's acting tho.

Chuck has gotta hate that Jimmy beat him when he had the advantage and all he had to do is stay quiet. Chuck destroyed himself, he was the only one who could and Jimmy exploited that.

This is amazing and there's little I'd add to it. One small detail that I think would have been funny: when one of the judges said "We did promise the defence some leeway. You may proceed... But watch yourself.", I would have put the five "health points" on the upper right, with one of them blinking. Totally felt like one of those AA moments where the judge warns you that any pointless pressing will result in a penalty.

This fits too fucking perfectly, the breakdown at the end is SO perfectly matched to Phoenix Wright games

I like how Saul Goodman, who would one day be some 2 bti ambulance chaser, was good enough to defeat the greatest attorney in the New Mexico area.

"he thinks this will break me down, like a murderer on perry mason" proceeds to confess loudly and dramatically

This is made better by the fact that it’s very common for characters to have pun names in Ace Attorney and Jimmy’s alias “Saul Goodman” is a pun of the phrase “(It)’s all good man.”

In many ways Chuck is correct in his observations of Jimmy, but for all Jimmy's faults he likes people and his clever mind, unlike Chuck's, doesn't move in straight lines. His 'deviousness' is the ability to problem solve creatively. He's also much more grounded than Chuck with a great sense of humour. Chuck is visibly uncomfortable in the dinner party scene when Jimmy charms Chuck's wife with all his lawyer gags. Another deep wound for Chuck. First, their parents, then his wife.
