  • Amazon share price when he gave this talk : $30 Share price today: $2400
  • Geeky Bezos was much more amusing than global emperor Bezos
  • YouTube should have an option for "Oldest First" in comment box. At least we could see how people in 2007 reacted to his idea
  • Nobody: YouTube recommendation : We finally have a video for you after 12 years!

The one's who got rich weren't the gold miners, but the one's selling the shovels
  • This guy knows his topic, wouldn't be surprised if he become richest man on Earth
  • 2007: Who is this guy? He sells books online? Who cares? 2020: Richest man on the planet
  • Fun fact: When Jeff gave this talk, Facebook hadn't been launched yet!

The stage from where the TED presentation is being done compared to ones today; you could compare that stage to the washing machine shown.
  • There’s a recent interview where he was asked about his space exploration project, and interestingly he answered it by explaining laying out the infrastructure needed for the future generation. Seeing this video now and connecting his rationale of Blue Origin kind of shows how appreciative he was of those people who came before him that laid the groundwork for Amazon.

"With innovation, there is no last nugget" probably my favorite quote from this TedTalk. Gives me hope that if you keep plugging along, you will hit something amazing.
  • ...seeing all those late 1800's newspaper clippings is also evidence that bullshit advertising has been around since, forever.
  • I love the fact that he didn't even have a presentation clicker to go through his presentation. He literally had a desktop computer on stage which he used to click along and see what was being presented. Things sure have changed since then.
  • I did not know Jeff Bezos had given a Ted Talk. 🤙🏼

So interesting! Jeff Bezos is a great storyteller. Only wish it were longer. Would love to see him do a follow-up to this 16-year-old presentation.
