Harvey is shown buckling his seat belt before he shoots the driver. This not only explains why he survives but also works as a great PSA on seatbelt safety. But in all seriousness, I don’t know how much this Harvey cares if he lives or dies, which is why he flips the coin for himself in the climax

The Riddler running around shouting "BAZINGA" would have been great. 🤣

Theres a Riddler who does live in the Darkknight Universe but... It's not that character. Theres a fake newspaper that's officially part of the universe that has a letter written by Edward N. It's suppose to be Riddler, but one who never rises to his full form. He's just a HUGE fan of Joker.
  • Even though the Penguin was not in The Dark Knight, I feel like that one gangster guy with the thick accent could've been replaced by the Penguin, and the plot would still make sense. I looked him up, the character's name is Chechen and he's played by Ritchie Coster. Just imagine Alfred Molina or the now late Bob Hoskins in the Penguin role.

I've never heard of either theory. The Riddler theory sounds somewhat plausible, but I feel like Reese would give up after Bruce saved his life and never actually get to the point of calling himself "The Riddler". The Penguin theory is just absurd.

The Maroni is the Penguin is an odd theory considering immediately after TDK came out, there were already rumors that Phillip Seymour Hoffman was being looked at to play The Penguin in the third movie.

It's funny bc I never forget Victor was in it bc last time we watching it together like 15 years ago you went on a whole tangent about him

Despite 'Riddler-Reese' only being a fan-theory, I much prefer the idea of him as a subtle Nolanverse nod to the comic book Riddler, as apposed to a green suited Saul Goodman or a blinking neon light. Plus, considering The Dark Knight is about a psychotic terrorist who Batman is always one step behind and cannot locate, I'm glad they didn't put a similar villain-type in the following film and opted for a physical/spiritual opponent.
