  • What a great message to us all! You nailed it Melissa. Some days we just don't "have what it takes" to do those never ending cleaning chores. That "struggle bus is real"! Being realistic and honest is key. Self care works for me. And doing just one thing can be just the positive influence we may need.
  • My problem is I spent so many years being depressed and working and being short of money, that I let my house go and now I feel it is beyond rehabilitation.
  • Oh my goodness. I just reached the end of my rope with being disorganized and you show up with suggestions. Thank you! 🙂
  • And when I don’t have motivation to Clean I turn your channel on and get going and other channels too but your my top favorite! I call your book my Cleaning Bible lol I have highlighted it and made notes in a notebook ❤ And sometime to get motivated I reward myself for a job well done,a new shirt,a manicure I give myself,or read a book!
  • If I'm struggling I remind myself that my hubby gets up everyday at 5am to go to work and provide a beautiful home for us the least I can do is make sure he comes home to a tidy house. Doesn't always work but most times it does. And thankfully my hubby never says a word about it if it doesn't. He actually will just start pitching in and doing stuff. I'm pretty lucky to have him.
  • Thanks for being real!! I'm sorry to hear you're on the struggle bus. I hate that bus!! Thanks for helping so very many people with your gifts and talents!!
  • About 2 years ago I changed my mindset. My “to do” list is now called my “goals list”. This mindset helps me to not feel guilty if I don’t complete my list for that day. ~Shiree~

Thanks, Melissa. Perfect timing. I've been feeling overwhelmed lately by being the primary house cleaner - things got out of hand because I was busy with other things. I'm getting back to having a clean & organized home & I DO put your channel on when I'm cleaning. It helps me stay motivated and get things done.

When I struggle, I put a really good Playlist or Audio book, and start cleaning.
  • @cantsay
And ask for help. My husband doesn't often help clean, but it's been hard lately due to some sad life events. I spoke up and asked him to help with dishes and if I cleaned would he dry and put away. I don't ask for help and just asking made me cry, but together we got the dishes done. ❤
  • This may be the best video, you´ve ever made. And I have seen many great videos on your channel 😊I have two kinds of areas in my house. The first is "just do it" areas. These are areas, that I want to keep clean, and that I know CAN be kept clean if I spend 10 min a day cleaning. My sink, the kitchen table, surfaces on the toilet and clothes put away ect. The second kind is "just do it when it´s time" areas. These are areas that I don´t mind if they get a bit dirty from time to time. The floors for example. So I only vacuum when it starts being annoying to me. This means that if I have a periode with no motivation to clean, I allow myself to rest - except for the 10 min. a day where I "just do it".
  • Personally, I read a book when I’m feeling the struggle. Cleaning is a habit for me though, so I always do a bit every day. Exercise is my biggest struggle, and your 5 minute tip will be my inner voice today. I love your videos 🩷 May I share them on my website?
  • I have learned to feel how I feel. If today is not the day, i do what I can. I also have inspired my kiddos to clean. I am proud of what they are able to do
  • I took a spiritual workshop about 22 years ago, and yes I'm old. We were suppose to pick a spiritual practice that was new to us and do it every dday, then report back once/month for a year. So, I picked saying a mantra, which was a mini prayer to God, over and over again while I did something I absolutely hated for 30 min every morning. You guessed it, my most hated thing to do was cleaning. Every morning, I cleaned the kitchen for 30 min saying my mantra and pretty soon I could stay in that happy place while cleaning. Over the years, I used the same mantra/prayer whenever I had to do something mindless that I hate doing or going someplace I did not want to go. To this day, 20 years later, I begin the morning cleaning the kitchen..

Whatever it is that you're struggling with, I hope you'll get through it, you've been such an inspiration! I've been struggling with many health issues and sometimes getting out of bed seems too much, so cleaning is therapeutic for me.
  • Great video 🎥 Melissa! I think of how I will feel afterwards 😊 and also put music 🎶 and a timer on like you said which can motivate me more once the timer goes off. I try and tune my routines to how much time I have each day and also try and tune my body to the seasons throughout the year which also impacts my cleaning 🧼🧹 routine.
  • This makes so much sense and when a cleaning expert says it, you can relate to it even more. To-do list, gone. Great idea. Starting by task, fantastic idea! Thanks for saying it's okay sometimes to put things off till tomorrow. You're the best. Warm, Irish hugs to you my friend xo
  • Thanks for this and for being real. Some days you just don't feel it and that's ok. I like what you said about self care. We all need it.
  • This is exactly why I am watching your video right now, to get motivated.
