As a native to the state, I've noticed the increase in accidents. This is terribly sad, and my heart goes out to her family because this was not a woman doing anything risky, it was an act of nature that took her life. Poor thing.

The Permit system for the Half Dome hike actually increases the likelihood of deaths on the mountain because people lucky enough to land their permits feel pressured to make it to the top no matter what the conditions.

RIP Ms. Rohloff I did this climb in 2018. It is incredible. Definitely bring a harness so you can clip into the cables and u will have no problems.

Rest in peace. I pray for the father. I've hiked in the rockies, and when a storm comes in, shelter in place immediately. Half Dome is extremely exposed, but if it starts raining hold onto the chains and metal poles with everything you got.

Half dome isn't an easy hike, but it's also not that dangerous. Unfortunately conditions heightened the danger. When I did the hike as 17 year with my classmates, someone twisted an ankle and had to be assisted down.

I'm so so sorry. Jesus hug your hearts right now and bring some comfort, especially the father who saw that. To the entire family, I will hold you up in prayer as you face the unthinkable of having to bury your beloved daughter. Dios los bendiga. 😢😢😢
