You know, this kind of makes Odin a tragic character, then. His actions, while reprehensible, were born out of fear. A fear that - if your theory in this video happened to hold any weight - Athena instilled in Odin. I find that intriguing. What other god king was infected with fear after Pandora's Box was opened? Zeus.
  • The idea of Gefjon being another name for Athena reminded me of something funny. When the Romans learned about the Norse Gods, they thought Odin was Hermes (Mercury). Would love to see the in-universe Odin's reaction to that idea.

Athena being Gefjon makes sense because it follows a pattern that has been established in both norse games: When a character from one mythology travels to another, they take the role of a character from that new mythology. For example. Kratos was from Greece. He travels to Scandinavia and there he is known as Farbauti by the giants, which turns out to be the name of Loki’s father in the mythology. Mimir originally was “Puck”, from Arthurian legends. He was from Scotland/United Kingdom. Once he travelled to Scandinavia, he took the role of Mimir, from Norse Mythology. So Athena somehow ended up in norse mythology, and “took the mantle” of Gefjon. This makes me wonder, if Atreus starts traveling to other mythologies, will he become the trickster figure of each one he passes by? Because almost every mythology has a Loki, a chaotic being, a liar, a trickster.
  • Truth be told, this gives me another idea for God of War. What if Athena was secretly manipulating other gods from beyond the grave, using them in a way to either help Kratos or get back at him. First Odin, then Amun Ra and Amaterasu

Then going forward a few thousand years, Loki's mask SOMEHOW got into the possession of Stanley Ipkiss
  • I like the idea that Athena is the one responsible for malipulating the events of the story and if they make another game in the future i just hope that they make her a boss or something shes the true villian behind it all also since the plain of existence is a thing i just hope they go more into detail with that as well
  • This is the most solid and reliable theory about God of War Ragnarok I've heard so far.
  • @venjustice6666
See Odin's obsession of the mask makes us obsessed with it as we all are very skeptical on what was in the rift
  • @lokigm1202
But to Athena be a ghost when she was in nordic realm, that has to be after GoW2. The mask is older than that at least.. right? And Athena became bad because of pandora's box, right?
  • @Ozzywozzy
It would be awesome if Athena comes back as a major threat and the only way to stop her is by using his time-travel window that he has in God of war 3. He would probably have to face off against the younger more vengeful Kratos or maybe they could team up to take down the gods for good.

Glad i could help man great video as always❤.
  • @FatherStomach
Well there is one problem tho... Mimir knows who Athena is, here is a line from 2018 God of War: "And I always knew you were Greek, Athena? Dead giveaway."
  • Here is my theory athena will want to use every big leader in any pantheon kratos visits to be in control of everything she uses the mask to control odin just like sgr used the masked warrior prophecy
  • When Odin told to Atrea about the rift and the mysterious Godlike figure with the cosmic energy flowing through the figure and staring him, it reminds me about when Sauron revealed himself to Gandalf, to Radacast and to Galadriel in the Hobbit.
  • Honestly when you’re describing the characteristics of the silent matron it seems to fit Artemis more. With her army of female warriors, they hunt for the thrill of battle. They swear off all men in trade for immortality unless defeated in battle. Artemis specifically encourages females to swear off any love to any man. The hunt is all that is needed. Seeing as how Athena is only a shade of herself thanks to Zeus, but we never really found out what happened to Artemis during the GOW series. It would more likely be her
  • Me when i saw Athena in GOW 2018: Hey green whats ur problem green?
