  • Cory Barlog has confirmed that some power or entity corrupted Athena when it ascended. Perhaps the thing that Odin see and heard is the same thing that corrupted Athena.
  • I always imagine that if Odin was successful in looking into the Rift, he'd see us playing as Atreus and Kratos and go insane.

Let's not forget that Surtr stated that the Blades of Chaos have "Primordial Fire" in them. Kratos said that they are not of these lands, while Surtr answered "It shouldn't matter" and proceeded to burn the blades with his fire. The mythologies are connected when it comes to their conception, or at least Greek and Norse myths
  • The story of Odin is similar to that of someone who has come into contact with an outer god. Seeing something inconceivable for a brief moment and doing everything in their power to not only see it again but also change the world to the image in their vision.

What’s most interesting to me is everyone is forgetting the fact that Garm attracted the mask even though Atreus was wrong about the translation. My theory is that garm was also connected to the higher plane snd his ability to travel through realms by creating rifts with the same green color glow. I don’t think the developers just left that in there for no reason Garm/Fenrir is 100% also connected to the mask/higher existence
  • I feel like the next GOW will start with Atreus returning to Kratos some time after Ragnarol with knowledge about something bigger than all the worlds pantheons and in need of his fathers help. Also I love all the unanswered questions Ragnarok presented us with, really leaves us wanting more!
  • Imagine if the stuff inside the rift was just literally the developer's office, and Athena was like, "I'M JUST A PLAYTHING? A CHARACTER?!" and just gave up trying to be selfless.

So does that mean Freyr has now reached there as well? Since he sacrificed himself at the end of Ragnarok for the groups safety.

You should have mentioned Thor the way he died is the same as Athena, but he got blue particles instead of green. Both of them are gods and sacrificed their lives for others
  • Here's one for you. Was Athena responsible for the cataclysm in GoW3? Kratos killed multiple gods before the events of GoW3, including the literal personification of death itself, and yet nothing like the disasters we saw in GoW3 happened. Maybe Athena wasn't satisfied simply becoming the new Queen of Olympus and wanted to wipe the entire slate clean and start over from scratch.
  • Maybe if atreus put on the mask and looked inside, the power and everything woukd currpt him just like Athena... and as result loki as we know it would be born

Theory: I am predicting that the green scar is connected to the “higher plane of existence” that Athena “Ascended” to after her death in God of War III. A few bits of dialog keyed me into this train of thought. 1st: Odin questioned what sort of afterlife awaited him after his death and looking into the green scar gave him some insight. I believe he was looking into the realm of “higher existence” that Athena occupies (possibly) to this day. (She was defiantly present to pull the sword from Kratos at the end GoW3) 2rd. Odin in the game is the closest match to a God of wisdom much like Athena. I believe had Odin stayed on a virtuous path he would have “Ascended” beyond the green scar to the “higher plane of existence” naturally. However, unlike Athena when Odin was confronted with a glimpse of the realm beyond, he became obsessive and destructive. Odin is an example of the kind of damage a wise person can do with a lack of empathy. As he stated in the fight when Atreus (Loki) destroyed the mask, “Everything I worked for. Everything I killed for….. what was it all for” he justified all the evil acts and manipulation of others as the cost of seeking “truth and knowledge”. Ultimately, (if the theory that Athena ascended because she sacrificed herself for the greater good” this evil obsession would have possibly led to his rejection from “higher existence” (aka the loss of an eye). Minor other points: As it stands there is a plot hole on why the Mask reacted to Garm in Helheim even though no mask fragment was present. If the prediction is that the Green Scar is a tear in existence to a “Higher Plane” my prediction is that Garm was the one who made the tear. Garm’s ability to traverse and tear holes win the realms is second to none. Who knows what scars he ripped open in the world tree before being chained in Helheim? It may even be possible that Gram’s soul may have unintentionally crossed over to the “high existence” (or been destroyed) leaving his soulless body behind. Mask could be reacting to any number of Gram’s connections to “higher existence”. (Not to mention the game points out the difference between primordial beings and gods much as the original trilogy did) In the end, there are a number of parallels between Athena and Odin. Both Athena and Odin wanted Knowledge in order to rule over the land. Both did not seem to care who they hurt or used in the process. Odin lied to himself thinking he could make the 9 realms a better place with what lies beyond the tear. Athena in her “ascended state” stated when Zuse was killed, “mankind was ready to hear her message" and when Kratos returned hope to mankind she exclaimed, "mankind would not know what to do with it (hope)”. Both seemed to have delusions that they were the fittest to rule over all.

My theory is that Demiurge is Ymirs father in this universe, as well as being the father of all the other oldest gods like gaea, meaning Demiurge is Odin's grandfather.
  • @kamisama1031
I find it odd that no one really talks about the fact that Athena is still very much alive. And knowing Santa Monica this is a detail they themselves have not forgotten. So it’s Interesting to see how they reincorporate her into future games.
