The Other Side of the Shield: CarShield customers, repair shop complain 'nothing is covered'

No Ice-T, you ain't my boy.

When Ice T or whoever says "And when your engine light goes on, its over" I knew it was a scam.

I was a Service Writer for a luxury car dealership, and dealt with dealer sponsored extended warranties, which were a pain, This Ice Tea, B.S. scam, should see a class action lawsuit.

The reality - "Things are covered only when we (Carshield) say they are covered. And we never say things are covered!" Always good to remember ICE-T is not your friend.

The money you pay for the premium every month, just save it yourself. That can be your emergency fund for car repairs.

My son's best friend owns an auto repair business and he absolutely refuses to deal with CarShield. He used to, but they caused more arguments between him and his customers that made it impossible to do his job correctly. He now asks right up front if the customer plans on using CarShield, and if they do, he politely tells them to head on down the road.

They used to teach this in school. When a company uses a celebrity to sell it's product it's called celebrity propaganda. It's normally a scam.

It's hard to believe some people make their buying decisions based solely on who they see hawking the product.... that's FOOLISH!

51 year career as a professional auto technician and shop owner. My experience is that many extended warranty companies write their policies to carefully exclude most anything likely to fail. Some asked me to install used parts that they supplied! Some wanted the work done at half or less than the going rate. My advice is to keep up on your preventative maintenance and pay for repairs out of your emergency fund partially funded by what you were going to pay a warranty company. If you have to buy an extended warranty package do your due diligence and find one of the rare decent companies. There are many really bad ones out there.

As someone who works at an auto repair show that is certified with Car Shield, they don’t pay shop supplies, uncovered diagnostics, maintenance items, if your a/c has a leak they won’t cover the A/C charge as part of diagnostics, wearable items. Also the rentals mostly only are covered if they approve the claim. Also they are very slow to respond to claims and take forever to schedule an adjuster.

As a mechanic for 35 year's I can tell you more than half of there's warranty companies are a scam😉

I HATE THIS COMPANY. It’s all lies. I worked there for a short time and just felt so slimy doing what they were forcing us to tell these people. All they want is your $$ they don’t care if you just lost a spouse or your job, or if you told them you were not interested. They will continue to call you.

I always thought Car Shield would have loopholes so big you could drive a semi through. I thought the ads were too good to be true, and some You Tube videos including this one confirmed my suspicions.

The BBB doesn't give CarShield an F rating because it's Fantastic!!!

I was about to sign up with CarSheild. I was hesitant for a reason.

You'll pay thousands for a contract regardless if they actually cover your transmission or not. Don't pay, they'll sue anyway. Your best just to save your money in the bank account instead.

They use well-known celebrities to make the commercial look legit. It's like 🐺 in 🐑 clothing. I have seen at pro sports stadiums advertise CarShield as a sponsor. Like Hall and Oates, I can't go for that, no can do.

I was a carshield policy holder, and the day my car broke down, the company indicated to me if I had read the fine print. Of course, this means they don't cover anything. Just save your money and pay for it yourself. It's terrible that these guys are not what they say. I was out 5000.00 on a transmission job..

I'm so happy for videos like this, I wanted to get protection but now after my eighth video I realize it's smarter for me to go through the dealership or just save the money I would be paying monthly LOL

Preventive maintenance!!! Don't depend on someone out of state,, depend on yourself!!!!
