The REAL Problem With Voyage of Despair

Hey Guys, this is me Skeptix. This is my alt channel that I use as a testing ground for YouTube content. I work with a company that helps people with their YouTube channels, and I so I wanted to understand the platform more. So I took the best performing Zombies content on my channel too what would happen when placed on a channel with 0 subscribers. Things were going pretty bad for a while and I honestly had forgotten about until the last few days. This is not a trick or a gotcha and no one is stealing from me. It's just me testing stuff. That being said, I often wonder if Skeptix has a bit of an algorithmic issue and so I have been thinking about pivoting to a new name. So I will continue to upload here from time to time, and who knows maybe one day I will make the shift if things feel like they are going that way. In my opinion its simple, they went down the EE path and didn't look back. Zombies for most people is just going for high rounds, I remember hopping on BO4 recently, after getting master prestige throughout the normal game cycle, and still having either no clue, or a super vague understanding of where anything was on any map. I cant imagine how any new player would be able to handle that, in addition to only having 4 hits (which ended up making the game harder for casuals). Plus the EE's felt like a chore compared to BO3, gameplay became secondary and you see that in the time passing since the game has come out. In a vacuum a great zombie experience, but too many unnecessary changes were made to the game mode that nobody asked for.

Man I REALLLLLY hope Treyarch are allowed to/realise how amazing the Chaos storyline areas and concept was and go back to it in Bo6/the future. Was genuinely the best way to take the franchise forward, going to these amazing historical and mythical locations. That is infinitely more fun and creative than the cold war route of more labs and nukes bad. Biggest fumble of the franchise.

The moment I heard your opinion on the Planets step was the moment I knew you were a real one. This is my favorite zombies map of all time, with no close competition. The other chaos maps, blood and tag, zet and origins, moon and Mauer, they can get kind of close, but nothing will make me feel like playing this map makes me feel. People are way too hard on this map.

This is the first map I decided to play after like, 4 years of no BO4. I once thought the map and both a fun layout, and was great to play on. I played it today, died two times due how close quarters everything felt, and how I always felt lost, and then decided to play a different map. While the beauty hasn't dissipated, my feelings on the gameplay have. This is a great video essay. Thank you.

The one real disagreement I have here with the side eggs is free Pack. I always do it while I’m down in the engine room and save it until it’s time to go into boss fight, and for the final phase of the fight I’ll have unlimited ammo. That’s good enough reward for me to do it. Also, the shield is fun to do in process, as long as you don’t shoot the firework on the first go. He drops free power ups a ton, so vaguely following the car around the ship (which you’re doing anyways if doing a full map train) rewards you, and when you feel your shield’s durability isn’t up to snuff, you finally upgrade it.

44:25 That is 'survive in the grand staircase while all of your movement controls are reversed' and it is MONSTROUS! Me and two of my friends beat it by having one person camp in a corner on each floor and whenever someone goes down one person activates their scepter of Ra and slowly but surely makes their way to the downed player. Was the calling card worth it? Not really since we did it several years after BO4's prime but it is what it is!

Im so thankful for your videos. It feels like a podcast and is perfect because i started with bo4, knowing nothing than just buy punch survive. Titanic ahh voyage felt good but it got pretty boring pretty fast. Blood of the dead was more fun but harder. What i wanna say is it's cool to get some justice for bo4 light and shadow :)

Voyage is actually pretty fun, its the only zombies map during the bo3/bo4 stretch where I felt like they actually made zombies scary again.
