Cawdor Castle

Published 2023-12-09
Located in the Cawdor parish Nairnshire in Scotland, Cawdor Castle has become even more well known by Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. However, the truth is that Macbeth died around 130 years before the title, Thane of Cawdor, was granted, and over 300 years before the first stone was laid at Cawdor Castle. The historical King Macbeth ruled Scotland from 1040 to 1057, after his forces killed King Duncan I in battle near Elgin. Macbeth was never the Thane of Cawdor.
Today Cawdor Castle and its gardens are a must visit if you have any interest in castles.

First time I heard of Cawdor Castle was when I studied Shakespeare’s Macbeth in school. Great video.
