Mumbles Lighthouse

Published 2023-12-02
The 17 meters tall structure built in 1794, originally had two open coal fire lights, which proved difficult to maintain and were replaced by a single oil-powered light contained within a cast-iron lantern. By 1977 this lantern had deteriorated beyond repair and was removed. In 1987 a new light was added.
The lighthouse can only be reached at low tide.
Today the lighthouse is a must visit destination for anyone who goes to the Gower Peninsula and is visible from miles away.

Wonderful views. Great video. That said it’s sad to see remnants of an era when man fought man while Nature took a back seat.

Mumbles boy living in Brunei now, thanks for the video, wonderful to see my old stomping ground. I missed the construction of the new RNLI Boat-House and I have to say...its a carbuncle. Utterly ruins the beautiful pier: it's like being poked in the eye. Is that design REALLY the best the RNLI can do?
