Published 2024-06-09
We do a 5 mile loop hike to the Porcupine Mountains highest point, Summit Peak, taking in the sights which include Mirror Lake, backcountry campsites, creeks, meadows, and wetlands. Located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park (locally referred to as The Porkies) is over 60,000 acres right on Lake Superior.

what a great hike, I really miss the UP. The campsites were amazing. Especially the lakes view and stream. I would love to spend a night out there or in the cabins.

Seems like a lot of wetland there... Good they have the board walks...😉

Nice hike. Yes there are porcupine in the UP and even in the upper lower peninsula. They ate the wooden steps off of my Aunt and Uncle’s cabin in Mesick, MI.
