Traditional Appalachian Meal-Country Ham, Red Eye Gravy, and Homemade Biscuits

Published 2022-07-13
We cook a lot of traditional meals around here, this one being a family favorite. I don't cook using a ton of ingredients, folks way back just didn't have them, and the food is absolutely delicious. Y'all enjoy!

Ain't nothing no better than home cured ham and red eyed gravy with homemade biscuits. Lordy, Lordy.
  • Watching and listening to you using the short cuts in cooking shows me that you are a natural cook and understand all the processes and know which ones you can skip . That makes you a natural cook. You make it look easy.

I couldn't handle greens when I was a kid, but taste changes as we get older, so going to give these a try. My husband didn't like cabbage as a kid, but loved cabbage fried in a little bacon grease with salt and pepper. So ready for good garden food! Thank you, Meagan!

How true. Life is all about how we look at it. If we keep our eyes on what’s wrong or as we would have things, we miss many of God’s blessings. But, I don’t do red eye gravy, lol! Love coffee and love ham but…….
