Finner, who told the Houston Chronicle that he was “pushed out” of the department, made the claims after as HPD Chief had said 264,000 incident reports, including more than 4,000 sexual assault reports, were suspended due to a “lack of personnel.” The reports dating back to 2016.
Finner said he knew about the cases being suspended back in 2021 and directed that it stop being used.
However, an internal document KPRC 2 Investigates obtained, showed Finner was looped in about the code being used by HPD in cases as far back as 2018.
HPD launched an internal affairs investigation but days after the closed investigation was reopened, Finner announced his retirement.

Who cares if he was forced out. He wasn't transparent and showed no leadership when he shifted the blame to other people.

Come on Troy. You had an easy job for 30yrs. Let it go. 😊
-
Mayor Turners boy, that whole administration was crooked.
-
Now he wants to talk and tell everyone he was forced to retire instead of telling the truth about all the mishandled and dismissed evidence the Houston police department did not take care of? The City of Houston needs to sweep clean that whole department and give the city of Houston a police force that they can be proud of!!! Way too many situations and things not handled right for many years!!!

You work all your life to get to this point and choose to throw it away. Help me to understand why guys like this make such poor choices.

IF you don't want to be forced out then don't take the top job.

It was time to end all the corruption and kickbacks and he's not happy with it, now.

Whitmire continuing to run the mayor's office like it's a tea channel.

He's just mad they are uncovering his mistakes, and wants to save face. Good on the mayor trying to clean up the mess from the previous administrations.

Ex chief kept claiming that Houston crime rates are lower compared to previous years which we could tell it wasn’t true
-
Chief Acevedo basically just dumped all of his problems on Finner. Not entirely Finner's fault.
-
Whitmire should have fired him. He showed weakness
-
He is a product of our D.E.I. policies. Blame ourselves. Not him.
-
He should have been transparent and done his job with integrity and also should know that when u take a top role it means you have to dig in cuz u know the person before you might have left a mess for you.
-
Rather he quit or was fired. He needed to go! All the crime on his watch is ridiculous.
-
This behavior should forfeit his pension.
-
I hear UVALDE needs some honest cops.

When you fear integrity and accountability, you are NOT the good guys.
