The Savior Heals All Wounds

Published 2020-03-05
When the Brussels international airport was bombed in 2016, missionary Richard Norby was terribly burned and injured by shrapnel. Yet in that moment, he knew the Savior was there for him and everything would be OK. The Savior is there for you, too.

After my divorce after 26 years, my heart was broken. It hurt to breathe.. I ask Heavenly Father to please heal those cracks in my heart and to make my heart whole and happy like when the sun shines on your face. I know that Heavenly Father can and does heal a broken heart. Bless the broken hearted..

I know this sounds unbelievable but listen to my story. I am a gardener. 3 years ago it was windy day and we were trimming a hedge. Our goal was to make it nice and flat again. Then suddenly my colleague slipped, he lost control over his chainsaw and cut off my ear. Nothing was left of it except for the hole of my ear. Bloodied and scared I prayed to the lord. For 2 years it seemed he did not answer and I lost hope in ever having an outer ear again. I started to doubt the word. I do not know how but about 6 months ago an earlobe had started growing! I could not believe the greatness of the creator. I was so thankful. This is not the end of my story because somehow my earlobe kept on growing and growing. It is a wonder. I am proud to say I once again have my right outer ear as if I never lost it. It is truly marvelous. My doctor did not believe me. But yes.. The lord is merciful!

Richard Norby is one of the most humble and talented people I have ever met. He certainly was my favorite seminary teacher! He played basketball with us after school, interacted with us in any situation, was always positive and full of faith. So great to see his recovery and the support he has from family and everyone else! God Bless!

It’s so awesome that God lets us learn to be okay with whatever’s in store for us. And it’s awesome that he’s made such an impressive recovery.

The gospel is true. The Lord is aware of us and loves us and will strengthen us through our trials.

Wow! So emotional. Our Father in heaven is so mighty.
  • I attend Utah Valley Institute. Brother Norby is my institute teacher. What a mighty miracle it is that he‘s been spared! Also I have a brother who was serving his mission in Spain at that same time. The Lord Jesus Christ really does know our pains. He suffered that he might understand us and so that we may understand him better more. I am so thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ! Well done brother Norby for enduring your trial well. The Lord shall exalt thee high! - student Cameron.

“Hang on to Him, and don’t blame Him.”

I know this isn’t the main point of the video, but seeing the medical professionals in this video reminded me of something I’ve learned recently. I’m a brain injury rehab nurse, and when I first started, I was struggling a lot, and my nurse trainer told me that she gets through the hard days by remembering that it’s a privilege to serve those who are sick and at their most vulnerable, and that Jesus served others and washed their feet, so it makes her feel closer to Christ by being able to serve others in this career. I’ve never forgotten that. It’s helped me get through the hard days, and I’ve also noticed how my patients and their families cling to Christ to get them through the hard times as well. I would say that the hospital is an environment where I’ve seen people draw nearer to Christ more than most places I’ve been to in my life (besides church and the temple of course) because when you’re in a place that houses people in distress and pain, it draws them closer to the savior, and that’s one of the biggest reasons God puts us through trials in this life: So we can draw closer to Him and Jesus Christ. <3
  • My wife left me for another man not long after I had surgery October 2019. We have a little girl and stays with her. I still remember the holidays alone without them. It was the toughest time of my life. I don't know why I had to go through that. Maybe the Lord has someone else for me, but I have to say even though that was the toughest time of my life, I feel that he's healing me. I still feel alone, but I hope he has someone that will be there for me just like I was there for my family.

I don't understand why people disliked this video. But I do understand this: Endure. if you pull through your struggles and focus on God, you will be saved. God so loved the world that he sent is only begotten son to die for us. We must all do what Nephi said: we must go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for we know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them. God loves his children, and has prepared for them a place in heaven. Never forget God's love for you. We are all beloved children of God. Endure. That is my testimony of God's love for us. Amen.
  • Marriage isn't about the other person being whole or perfect it's loving and sticking with them through tough times as well as good times. Too many people give up on their spouse when something like this happens. It's nice to see his wife was so supportive, he has a good family that cares about him he's very blessed.

"We have to come to the point to give the Savior His victory." That is so powerful.

It has always been an issue for me when people blame God when difficult things happen. Heavenly Father is a father first and His love for us knows no bounds. I appreciate that he knew this and taught his grandchildren, something everyone needs to understand. When difficulties arise and they will, remember Him, lean on Him, trust Him. Thank you Bro Norby for sharing your experience with everyone
  • There's so much that seems unfair in situations like this, but Christ is the difference between pain and relief, between sorrow and joy, between hurting and healing, between grief and gladness, between sin and sainthood. He changes everything and everyone who lets Him in. He's near, never far, and His grace is sufficient to heal every single individual in every single circumstance. I like how this story shows that He's aware of us at all times :)
  • This video is a powerful testimony of the truth of The Savior's Atonement. It made me think in how big His love for us was insomuch that He decided to suffer all of our pain, all of our injuries, all of our worries and all the rest, only because He loved us and He wanted to know exactly how we felt, so He could help us perfectly and in the best way He could. I love my Savior and my appreciation for Him and for all He's done for us and still does, is growing day by day as I ponder all these things.
  • Returning and acknowledging the doctors and staff in Belgium was truly important.
