Composed by David Wise. Recreated by me. This was made possible by locating the original instrument samples from workstation keyboards and drum machines before they were put into the game and rebuilding the soundtrack from the ground up, applying some modern mixing techniques along the way to lift the veil of 16bit compression and create an updated listening experience. Part of a project to restore the entire DKC series soundtrack. Follow me on Twitter for more updates: twitter.com/PrinceSamlet
Sound sources:
Korg Wavestation, Roland R-8, Roland U-220
Electric Guitar in the download link is sampled from @RetroNinjin (youtube.com/channel/UC-NKX76qi0vqIOgFU4-0Qig)'s Gibson SG Standard

It's happening. Going scuba diving soon. Bluetooth earpiece. 38 years in the making.

"It's just a silly game about a gorilla, just compose something" David Wise: *composes a banger of a soundtrack *

my one wish would be to swim/ explore the deepest oceans with some headphones on while this song on infinite loop and to never come out for all eternity.

I was 8 when this released and I’m 37 now. There’s a reason I love to see gameplay of these old games and hear the music just like this… it’s because each one of these games.. each one of these soundtracks takes me back to a moment in time. It takes me back to a specific time, and a specific person that I played the game with. Whether it was my father watching me play the game.. or my neighbor Andrew sitting next to me as we play through the entire game. It’s not simply nostalgia to hear soundtracks like this… it’s like we’re warping in a time capsule. Returning to that moment and reliving it. Remembering the scenery, the atmosphere, the smells.. it’s returning to that specific room, in that specific house that we played the game. It can be very happy, or very sad for some of us. These aren’t just games… these are little time capsules. These are part of our brain, part of our hearts.

- this sound reminds me of a time of no stress. No struggle. No fears. No smart phones. just 90s kid life😢
-
can't imagine how much more bittersweet this beautiful music would be if I'd played it as a kid
-
Reminds me of my childhood so much. Miss the 90’s and early 2000’s

I still play this game almost daily. Im currently 27, I normally dont play anything online with my friends alot, I just want to play this. I still remember being a child at our first home and playing this in the basement. Before I was aware of anxiety and depression, this was the meaning to my existence. I've lost alot of family, and friends over the years, but I will never lose my love for this game. Im so happy and fortunate to see all the other people in the comments who have mutual feelings towards this experience 🖤.

This brings tears to my eyes, not because it's sad because it's not, but because of how beautiful it is, it is a true masterpiece.
-
I was stunlocked for like 3 and a half minutes listening to this
-
Ahhh.... The innocence of being a 90s kid. Games like this will never die
-
The guy who made this song is a great musician and has tremendous sensitivity. Makes me cry remembering my childhood.
-
I played Subnautica with this on a loop. An absolute game changer.
-
Unreal. I've never heard this before. It is honestly one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. I love this.
-
type of shit you cry and smile to at the same time...
-
One of the best video game songs ever! And this comes from someone who gaming for over 35 years.
-
If nintendo makes a donkey kong movie, this should play over the credits.
-
First game I ever really played, I was four. My mom recorded this onto a cassette tape that I would listen to on repeat, both sides, as I fell asleep at night. Beyond nostalgic.

i found a remix of this song a few years back and i put it in a playlist i used to use for sleeping. it's just as relaxing as the original and it's pretty good. do love this version, so nostalgic. i remember my dad busting out the snes one day and letting me and my brother play. it was amazing

Takes me to a time in my life where life was still okay. Hopefully I can get to that point again where life feels okay. Until then I’ll find some peace in listening to this music. Love and light
