  • Danny is 200 years old, 9 feet tall, plays every night in a local NBA game, then wears his uniform to play drums in concert. He invented drum sticks.
  • @dkGamecocks
four different rythyms in four different time signatures with each limb.... Danny Carey is a wizard.
  • Danny isn’t playing alone; the whole band is playing live in front of 20,000 or so fans. It’s just a drum multi-cam they show. You can see Maynard the lead singer walk across the back during the breakdown 7:44

The fact that this is live and just 1 part of an hour and a half show in front of thousands of people makes it so much more impressive. Danny the GOAT.
  • That’s a tool concert you just can’t see the other guys because they don’t move around much. But yeah that’s one of the hardest pieces of music to play with that kind of timing and off beats. He makes it look so easy but I’ve been playing drums for 25years and it still makes me want to quit playing because he is so next level! Great job guys great reaction!
  • I hope you guys can appreciate how awesome this is. He's doing polyrythmic drumming and using complex time signatures that is all mathematically based. It's so unique and difficult. He is one of the best all time!

Hey guys….I’m a drummer of 40 years and a fan of Tool since 1990. You have just experienced the most talented drummer playing today. He has the ability to play multiple time signatures between his hands and feet, in addition to the band time signature. So cool to see people experience this for the first time. New subscriber here.
  • What makes this even more impressive is that Danny doesn’t use clicks . He is the metronome for the band.

Danny Carey is the only person outside of an actual NBA player who can get away with wearing a full NBA uniform out in public...he was actually a very good basketball player but wasn't confident that he could crack college/pros so decided to focus on his drumming instead...and now he is considered one of the Top Ten rock drummers of all time, this song is one of the best examples of his talent and ability....and he was almost 60 years old when this video was recorded!

That’s an actual concert, the video was just made to focus on Danny’s skill on the drums. Danny is a whole vibe from his skill to his signature basketball uniforms he wears at every show. Not to mention he was around 59 years old when he made this video and still killin it!
  • I'm 61 years old and have seen a boat load of great drummers across all musical genres, but I doubt I've ever seen a drum performance within the framework of a song that's this impressive. For me what separates Danny Carey from most drummers is his creativity and combination of power and finesse with the uncanny ability to change strike force in such a nuanced way. I've got one word to describe this song - MASTERPIECE.
  • I think its pretty much accepted that Danny Carey is the best drummer alive, and now in his 60's he still is playing like this. tool is so underrated. Deep lyrics and extremely talented musicians

POLYRHYTHMS!! Best drummer on the planet. He possesses perhaps the most difficult skill in drumming, limb separation. If you notice, each foot and hand can have its own rhythm occurring simultaneously, resulting in 3 or 4 different ones. In simple terms, it's the near equivalent of a mortal being able to touch the sun. Aside from his polys, he possesses so many amazing technical skills, it's unreal.
  • @worldwidekeef
The whole band is there. The camera is on the drummer the whole time just so you can see what he's doing up there. Phenomonal!
  • @deadbrother5355
Watching the expressions on your faces change throughout the song is gold.
  • @myalteregohamish
I love watching people discover TOOL. The reactions to seeing and hearing this music we’ve all had it. So good.
  • @Zephbane
I think Danny will go down as arguably the greatest drummer of all time. I know there are lots of names to throw in that hat. But his ability to dissect rhythm is otherworldly.
  • @bradley4808
Welcome to the genius of Tool and Danny Carey. Seeing the live is like a religious experience.
  • @ozzy2637
I really hope these dudes truly appreciate just how talented DK is .
  • @7:00 mark Danny is in a 4 way polyrhythm leading into the interlude with a decreasing 7 pert to 3 part Tom section with just his right hand. HE IS THE MACHINE. Best drummer alive hands down.
