The "Green Flash" is a rare occurrence. The conditions (barometer, humidity, weather, clouds, and even time of year) have to be just right. To explain what the "Green Flash" is, you have to understand what happens when white light is passed thru a prism and bends it into its different frequencies (colors). If you understand this principle, you know the colors are "ROY G BIV" (Red, Orange, Yellow, GREEN, Blue, Indigo, and Violet). So when the atmosphere acts like a prism, and conditions are just right, the GREEN portion of the spectrum "flashes". Although it is A VERY RARE EVENT, some pictures can be found by searching the internet. George KG6SD

My better half went to SIO. If you're in San Diego again, please let me know!

Could the green flash have been visible aurora during one of the recent sunspot high speed solar winds caused by a coronal hole on the Sun's surface?

I’ve been watching California coastal sunsets for 50 years and have never seen the green flash, so it is not common, if in fact it is real.

That is very interesting. Thanks for sharing. KC3UEE

The Green Flash is real, it happens, but not all the time, and it is short, a flash, don't blink,...
