The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie - 2004
In this lively animated adventure, undersea oddball SpongeBob SquarePants and his starfish friend, Patrick, embark on a quest to clear the name of Mr. Krabs, the owner of the Krusty Krab restaurant, who has been framed for stealing the crown of ocean deity King Neptune. Leaving the familiar confines of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob and Patrick venture out towards Shell City, where they hope to find Neptune's crown, but numerous obstacles stand (or float) in their way.

This movie is actually really good, apparently this movie was supposed to be the SpongeBob finale so that’s interesting, anyway I’m a goofy goober 4 life

According to Steve Hillenburg (may he rest in peace) the reason why we never saw the Krusty Krab 2 in the show was because it is the definitive endpoint of the spobgebob mythos, everything made after this movie comes before the movie in the spongebob timeline
  • SpongeBob being essentially hungover on ice cream is undeniably the best part of the whole movie other than the goofy goober rock parody.

Actually, blowing up the nukes at the Bikini Atoll was intentional, as it was a secluded area with no humans, although nearby fishing vessels were affected. Fun fact: a Japanese fishing vessel known as the lucky dragon number 5 that experienced the fallout of the blast and also brought back radioactive tuna was referenced in the first Godzilla movie.
  • the fact that they actually got original band members to cover songs for 7:44 and 15:05 (Motorhead and Twisted Sister) is actually really freaking cool
  • I have watched this movie 1000 times and it still surprises me with how good it is
  • As someone who is currently employed at Walmart, I can confirm that SpongeBob is STILL on boxes of Go-Gurt.

I remember really loving the pirate sections of this movie as a kid and hoping they'd do a spinoff with them sailing around to different theaters every time a Spongebob movie came out.

2 decades later and it still somehow has better plot and story than most modern movies.
  • This movie defined a generation. Truly a staple for any 2000s kid (like me) who grew up with SpongeBob and it early seasons. RIP Stephen Hillenberg for defining a piece of my childhood

Fun Fact: The song that plays in the tug boat bar is You Better Swim, by Motorhead. A metal band. This wasn't even the first time a metal band had written a song for Spongebob.
  • This movie is the only canonical ending to SpongeBob that I will accept and nothing will change that. Season 4 onwards is just a mega compilation of fanfiction from Nickelodeon that Stephen Hillenberg never wanted. This movie will always hold a special place in my heart, as both a SpongeBob enjoyer and a fan of Stephen Hillenberg. MWS, thank you for reviewing this movie; you guys made this movie feel even more special to me.

I say it’s more perfect than perfect but apparently it’s almost perfect
  • I feel like a lot of people don’t talk about how the SB movie had such a different tone and animation from the show itself. I remember thinking how when a show was revealed to be getting a movie, that meant it was the “real deal.” Simply because of this movie. Everything seemed more serious and honestly much darker, rather than the mostly light hearted feeling the show had. And it couldn’t have worked out better. I’ve rewatched the movie so many times on my DVR I could tell you to this day that where the commercials are. It’s one of those movies I can watch over and over and never get sick of

13:32 They can't be out of water because they'll dry up...but they do this.

This movie is almost 20 years old. And it’s still better than newer animated movies.
  • 12:54 I can’t get over the fact he called Roger Rabbit… Robber Raggit and no one acknowledged it😂
