When a person observes clear watery fluid on one side, but there is one entity in which there is watery nasal fluid only on one side and that too the same side, especially when they bents to eat food, or pick up something from the floor, then they should be very careful. This is because of a condition called CSF rhinorrhea. CSF is a fluid around the brain and the spinal cord. CSF is Cerebrospinal Fluid, which is a buffer between the brain and the spinal cord. This fluid is separated from the nose by a very thin layer of bone in the skull base especially in the front face. People in between 30’s to mid-40’s especially ladies on the obese side tend to have a spontaneous leak from the nose. This area of the skull base is called cribriform plate, there are sieves, when the holes get bigger, then the covering of the brain gets torn and then the fluid starts leaking from the nose. This is called idiopathic CSF leak, that means we don’t know the reason, but generally happens in that age group of people predominantly in women than in men. CSF leaks can also happen following nasal surgeries, skull base surgeries, brain surgeries, following trauma that is road traffic accidents, that is bike accidents and following head injury, there is CSF leak. The regular way it heals is within 14 days of rest, I will heal, but for some patient sit can be beyond that. This can be life threatening because the nose can carry germs into the cranium, that is the brain, causing meningitis, which is an infection of the covering of the brain. Meningitis is at times fatal. So it has to be repaired, done endoscopically, using an endoscope through the nose. So it is a scarless surgery. Prior to surgery, do a CT scan and an MRI to find out from where it is leaking.

    i woke up this morning and my nose just started leaking, it looked like water it burned and i might’ve done it in my sleep cause it was in two places on my bed, it really burned but i had to just take it

    OK so off to the Dr. I'm going today this has happened to me before about 15 yrs ago I ended up with dibilatating headaches for 6 years after. It just started happening yesterday again thus time though I hardly even tilt my head and my right sinus starts flowing like a tap

    I am currently here because I woke up this morning with a very wet pillow. The experience was like a normal discharge of liquid from a runny nose but i think it was similar to water.

    I think I might have this issue as i have undergone a surgery a month or two back in my mouth which is a cyist surgery and a teeth which was growing inside upside down beneath my nose area with the chance of cancer too but was lucky that cyst was normal so i guess i have to get checked again cause this white transparent fluid like water is coming so

    Does it also bleeds from where it leaks. My nose it runny but when i put cotton or soft tissue there is blood at the end of it very minute

    Dr I need to ask you that my brother through bike accident gets air in the brain and then the doctors operate his brain to remove air and after 3 days of operation fluid comes in his nose Can you tell me about it it is good or bad symptoms. Fluid comes out his right nostril Plzzzzzzzzzzz tell me as soon as possible

    I had an accident where i fell from the stares and head firsrt in the corner and i think my bone i showing and i just passed away prob like 5 to 6 years ago i think thats why my nose is leaking cause he said you can get it from accident on heads😪

    Without scanning how to confirm that it's the brain fluid. Any lab test is there to diagnose the fluid by collecting the sample while leaking through nise

    I have wondered about this water like discharge for awhile as my nose leaks on the right side especially if I sit up from lying down and there are times when leaning over causes it to drip out. Today it has been going on literally all day. I have used 2 rolls of toilet paper. I'm scheduled for surgery on a deviated septum in late July and I do have a dust mite allergy and Mast Cell Activation Disorder but am on a good amount of antihistamine and today it has not helped. Can an MRI actually detect this in all cases? Does a hole actually show, or does it depend on where it is?

    Mine is exactly like water and it tastes like nothing I tasted it just to make sure so no mean or gross comments please I’m just worried and my head feels weird like dizzy or like blew a bunch of balloons but my nose is super ichi so it could be allergies 🤧 or a cold 🥶 I don’t know?
