Who else is here cause we are a few days from New Year 2021 and we needs to bring the year in right after the way 2020 went? 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

This is the first time I ever in my life basically cooked. My husband always did all the cooking. As I was saying this is the first time I ever made black eyed peas. After a long talk with God and asking him to bless them. I wowed my family and myself and made the best black eyed peas using your recipe. My daddy didn't believe that I cooked them. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making a cook out of me.
  • I’m 48 years of age and I just learned 2 things from this video 🥰 never knew about the hot soak and smashing the beans to thicken. Your never to old.

The African American tradition to bring in prosperity for the New Year. Black Eyed Peas!! Your the only person outside of my family that I've heard speak of the hot wash. You never disappoint AB!
  • I never made black eyed peas in my life. I followed this recipe down to the "look" and baby its up! I thought I was my granny in the kitchen just whipping and flicking my wrist!!! I followed your other recipe for the greens and made some honey cornbread on the side! I damn near want to marry myself lol thank you so much for your recipes!!!! AB you helped me start my new year off right!!!

Whenever I cook black eyed peas I thinking of this song my Dad used to sing when he cooked beans. "Beans and cornbread had a fight, beans knocked cornbread out of sight." It would always make me laugh.

I just found this channel a few days ago but I’ve already binged so many videos. This is the type of cooking channel I want. Straight and to the point with no pretentiousness. Just a good ole southern boy showing how he cooks at home. Nothing was taught in “culinary school”, just showing how a great home cook learned from his own momma and daddy. I love it. Keep it up.
  • Alright Alright Alright! I’m doing this but with smoked turkey legs/wings👍🏽
  • Greens for the dollars, peas for the pennies... Thanks for the tip on smashing some of the peas to help thicken it up...🍴🍴🍴

My Mama always made black eye peas for New Years. She said it wasn’t just only for good luck, but also to keep you grounded to Mother Earth for providing her Blessings. You make it so simple, I love it!

Please don’t stop these videos, I’m from Canada and I love southern food but don’t know how to make it. I tried this today and OMG it was sooooo good.

Black eyed peas are the best! The hot wash is a great tip.
  • I’ve never knew that you could thicken the beans this way. Thank you for that tip. Have a blessed and happy new year

AB does it again. Definitely my go-to channel for recipes. I love the “I don’t usually do this” sample of the food. AB know he do that every video 😂.
  • @soriyazz
GM Fam. I used leftover turkey yesterday to make my black eye peas. Banging

This is absolutely my new favorite thing to do on NYD !! The smash is the move! I've followed your stuff for the smoker, so I'm not sure why this should have been any surprise. I had two bowls and needed to save room for the collards!
