John Fogerty ( Lead singer and guitarist) was one of the founders of CCR. He wrote “Have you ever seen the Rain?” , “Proud Mary”, “ Fortunate Son”, “Who’ll Stop the Rain?”, “,Looking out my Back Door “, Rocking All Over the World”, “Centerfield”, and “ Down on the Corner”. “ Heard it through the Grapevine “ was actually written by Marvin Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records and was recorded by Gladys Knight and the Pips, released in 1967, and by Marvin Gaye, released in 1968. Even though the Miracles were the first to record it in 1966, their version wasn’t released until 1968. While the standard versions from Motown were 2:50- 3:00 minutes long, CCR recorded an 11:00 minute version for their album, Cosmo’s Factory in 1970. I love John Fogerty’s voice. It’s funky and unique. Down on the Corner, Centerfield, and Proud Mary are all great, but Fortunate Son is probably his most historically important one, as a Vietnam war protest song.

CCR is one of the all time greats. "I Put A Spell On You" is really magical and hypnotic.

CCR was a southern California band, but back in that time we all called it swamp rock. They just had a sound like no one else.
