Back in the day when musicians actually played instruments. Refreshing.
  • @willasacco9898
There is a much longer version, with a killer guitar solo by John Fogarty. You must check that out on your own.
  • CCR cranked out an amazing amount of music in a short time. They were phenomenal.

CCR had such a distinct sound, led by John Fogarty’s distinct voice. Both Marvin Gaye and Credence did a great job with this song. Great song —- great reaction!

You will love the longer version. Beautiful guitar work.
  • @lyriasfaves
Can't hear this without raisins dancing through my head! Even though they came much later!!!
  • If you liked this version you will love the long version , it really shows their masterful musicianship it's about 11 minutes long , but it is much better ...
  • ......'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, the house songwriters for Motown Records. Gladys Knight and The Pips released the 1st version in 1967 and it reached #2 on the the Billboard national chart and #1 on the R&B charts. Her version KILLS on contact !!!!
  • John Fogerty is the lead singer and lead guitar player.....this is the live short version....the long version is on the "Cosmos Factory" album. It is a banger!!!!

Not only does this bring me back to the seventies it brings me back to the raisinet commercial where the raisins were dancing across the screen to this song

I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. They don't have a bad song! John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. All their songs are great - "Proud Mary", "Born On The Bayou", "Bad Moon Rising", "Lodi", "Green River", "Commotion", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Down On The Corner", "Cotton Fields", "Midnight Special", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "Up Around the Bend", "Run Through The Jungle", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Suzie Q", "I Put A Spell On You", "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" etc.
  • I remember dancing to Marvin Gaye's version of this song 50+ years ago. He did a masterful job but I have to say that CCR knocks it out of the park.
  • @psrandy1
That is the great JOHN FOGERTY. Still going strong today. The original artist is CCR
  • @jacqueline4514
YES!!! This is my favorite CCR song. How lucky are we to have this AND Marvin Gaye’s phenomenal version of the same song, each one different and perfect in their own way?
  • @dlmullins9054
I was a teen when CCR was performing. I always thought they were the best band ever, but they were so under-rated. Now they get more respect than then and it is about time! I think Marvin Gaye sang it after CCR did it ? Thanks for playing this.
  • Probably the only time where a cover of a song is so great as the original!!! Great job Marvin and CCR!!!!
  • Between 1969 & 1972 there were three versions of this on popular radio: Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, & CCR.
