Here's what you can expect when actually painting models with Speedpaint! In this tutorial, I painted 30 different models quite fast without using much skill. These results are 100% accessible for total beginners, or anyone who wants to paint their models quickly. The minis are for Dungeons and Dragons and Ravaged Star. The DnD minis are mostly from The Lost Dragons, The Lost Adventures, and Titan Forge.

The full set of speedpaints releases in late March of 2022. I'm interested to see how people use them! In the meantime, I'll take a little break from Speedpaint and get back to some other types of content ;-)

It's sweet how you always direct people to Dana Howl for examples of your work but better.. but your work ain't bad at all!
  • It's so wonderful to see these NPCs come to life for your Waterdeep taverns. It's even more wonderful to see new contrast paint lines and tutorials aimed at newer hobbyists. They're a welcome boon for new players in my experience.
  • Thank you sir for telling us "it's ok to paint just to get minis ON THE TABLE". I enjoy I your content sir.

The more I see this, the more I'm intrigued by what they can potentially do. The tricky thing is working out how to best use them as the results really are super variable. They seem to fit the D&D style really well.
  • I know these are supposed to be cheats for painting table-ready quickly and not necessarily beautifully, but i unironically love the way that the makeup brush "zenithal" looks under the speedpaints. It makes me think of those old sketch-y illustrations from old fantasy books. And it brings out highlights and detail in a more interesting way than the classic spray zenithal imo. Keep up the good work with these!
  • That tavern scene at the end is just too awesome. Dang, I just absolutely love that. Can’t wait to get my hand on a set of these paints😍.
  • This looks very beginner friendly. I physically can't paint minis on my own, but I know the family members who help me with the hobby would absolutely love this stuff

I first painted a few miniatures around 1982. I’m considering getting back into the effort and your videos are my lighthouse. I hope you are a teacher of some sort for your day job, because you are one of the great teachers on YouTube.

I think this is the not only the BEST use case for SpeedPaint, but probably Army Painter's intended use case. You get a table full of vibrant minis quickly and easily. Are they gonna win awards. No. But that's not the point.

I bought these speed paints a few days ago because I was trying to get myself back into painting miniatures. It's been years, and I'm not good by any means, but these made it fun again. It really makes a huge difference when you bring out your miniatures for a game and you're not embarrassed by them! Thank you for your speed paints videos, they're just what I needed to bring me back to the hobby.

I just started my journey into this hobby. Bought an Army Painter starter set of regular acryllic paint, a can of black primer, 3 brushes and a black wash. Not even 3 weeks later, and I just got a delivery of a really nice set of high quality brushes, white primer for zenithal priming and different-colored washes as I didn't like how the black wash behaved on all of my minis. My minis look really shitty compared to the ones my friends who have been playing wargames for years now but I don't really care! I am really having fun with the hobby and the mini I just finished looks miles better than the group of goblins my players will encounter in our first DnD session, which was the first batch of minis I painted. You and a few other channels like Miniac and Ninjon really helped and continue to help me in taking step by step forward. So, thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Without you, I would not have found one of the most important activities in my current live. It's been a rough couple of years, as my mental health took a nosedive once Covid hit, but going from listening to Critical Role, to planning my own campaign, to buying and painting the NPCs and villains my players are going to encounter helped immensely with that.
  • That high contrast white on the undercoat makes the end result look drybrushed automatically. Brilliant!
  • Contrast paints totally renewed my interest but now I HAVE to try these as well, thanks Brent!
  • As someone with limited time and skill, this is really helpful. I got the full set of speedpaints for christmas and it has made the hobby much more enjoyable and encouraged me to improve.

It is incredible how good these look after just one coat of paint. Amazing technology. Thanks for showcasing.
