  • I went through a phase of trying to "always improve" at painting and it honestly just made me miserable. I'm now happy getting ARMIES done, and making the armies look as cool as possible. Everything counts in large amounts.

Speed paints helped me achieve my goal of being mediocre mini painter, I could not have done it without them.
  • I often hear "table top" thrown out like it's a "low quality" paintjob. I don't agree. Table top is like being a scratch golfer. It really is a quality level of proficiency. No, it isn't Golden Demon. But there's a reason Golden Demon exists. It is a MUCH higher standard. It's as if completing a triathlon or marathon is failing because you don't place top 3. Table top quality really means you do a good job. It demonstrates that you are an active, proficient hobbyist. Great review, Wyloch- Thanks!

I'd like to share my favorite speedpaint trick; Base coat in normal silver metallic, and then put a coat of speedpaint over it for instant metallic of any color. Because the speedpaint is translucent, the metallic effect shines through wonderfully. It also seems to reduce the "glittery" aspect of the micah powder without losing the luster. Personally, I think the metallic speedpaints in the 2.0 line are too watery and glittery, especially compared to the results you can get from this trick.

Tabletop quality paint jobs are underrated. Those paints do seem to streamline the process. I really like your use of color in your models and scenes, so the paints make it all look extra nice.
  • The look your daughter gave when you filmed her really reminded me of my daughter 😂 that look of 'dad, you're such a nuisance'. I'm yet to try any contrast paints, I want to but I'm still trying to get the hang of being consistent with normal acrylics, my tiny mind can only handle so much learning at once.
  • @graefx
I love your painting space with the 2 archs of lights. And I gotta agree, theres something incredibly gratifying about seeing just a mass volume of minis.

Thank you for catering to me with your casual approach and unwillingness to try and master something that-- while still important to me- isn't AS important as learning the rules of a board game and ensuring I spend most of my time thinking about the GAME instead of painting plastic. This set seems PERFECT for people like you and me!

People really over stress painting your miniatures to insane levels. The truth is you can paint the most insanely detailed figure ever.... but from 3-5 feet away on the gaming table you will barely be able to tell the difference between a 30 minute speed paint job and a 6 hour ultra detailed model. Your mummies especially look great, better than most minis I have seen at a gaming table.
  • You can absolutely get better at applying speed paints too! I have been painting with speed paints for about a year and I can tell I've gotten better at it. Still waiting on my Complete Set of the 2.0 paints to come in. You did really well on all these models! They look great!
  • This is refreshing. It seems that the norm is to take painting as far as it can go, which is very fun, but sometimes you just need an army painted and good enough is good enough.
  • When I first thought about crafting, I found your videos. Here I am a few months later, and I'm almost done with a playable, two-story tavern/inn that's an absolute beast!
  • @Mugdorna
Kudos for the disparaging look from your daughter. Always good to see dad's being embarrassing on their kids.
  • Speedpaint got me through 110 minis for frostgrave in 3 weeks. I totally suck, but they still turned out. Love the stuff.
  • @frankyboi1819
You’re not bad at painting bud! Just because you don’t paint competitively doesn’t mean you’re bad. I love watching you paint because you’re always creative and I love the results!
  • That's great, Wyloch! Painting is a many splendored thing so I'm glad you found your favourite paints! 😊
  • That video title is such a mood lol. Also, I've used the 2.0 speedpaints for a couple of months now and I can also sincerely recommend them
  • @MarkCMG
Thanks for the video! Great to see you having fun and being motivated by this painting innovation!
  • @sweeneezy
wow, this is actually really impressive, both the results and the tech of the paint itself
