Honestly that broodlood looks phenomenal. Incredible use of speedpaints.

Holy crap! That Broodlord looks amazing!
-
Thanks for the video! Big things for me: - less splotchy than GW - colors not matching up exactly to GW means a bigger overall range - dropper bottles mean less paint lost to cats :)
-
You touched on the one thing here I don't see people doing, mixing them. They are still paints and mixing them often gives the color you want instead of the color provided.
-
Tip: Go to the dollar store and buy some army men. Chop off their heads and prime them white. Apply your Contrast/Speed paint and glue it to the lid of said paint. Now you can clearly see what each color is/behaves.

I'll be honest, I've been looking at these for a while now and they look really good. Comparatively speaking, just from looking at the videos, they seem to be more consistent than GW's contrast paints, and I think I'm going to grab the starter set in February. I normally use contrast paints for swarms of grunts or mobs that don't need to be super finely detailed, so these could be just what I need.

I think that broodlord just sold me on zenithal + speed paints. The time vs quality ratio of that paint job is phenomenal!
-
That Brood Lord looks sick! I'm quite impressed by the speedpaint and the painter. Thanks for the review. I'll be using them strategically like you suggested.
-
Soooo... In short they're the same BUT different. Seriously though. Well balanced review. Looks like a slight change in techniques to get the best out of these. Thanks for quality content.

You know, I keep thinking about how people would react had the Speedpaints come out first, and then two years later the Contrast line appears. I bet we would be seeing the same cautions curiosity but in reverse. Probably everybody would have developed a routine with SP that they were happy with and it would take some time to get used to how different Contrasts are. "Wait, you´re telling me that they do most of the same thing, but they´re splochier and twice the price? Eeeeeh, I´ll maybe grab a few, just for varietys´ sake". All in all, I plan to go balls deep with Speedpaints, you just can´t beat the price tag, and I´ve got some big projects ahead...

Cracking video today, Adam. You've not only given a good, honest assessment of the speed paints, you've also offered some fairly straightforward instructions for how one might quickly paint up a large alien or lizard force. I really like those two models you've done

I'm going to review your review: very complete. Usually people either do samples or they paint a model. You do all kinds of stuff to put these paints through their pacings and I appreciate that. I learned about the paints, learned some techniques,... Good stuff

Looks like another tool for the “painter’s tool belt”. Thanks for the consistent quality - both content & production 👍🏻
-
This is probably the most in depth and balanced review I've seen on these paints. Thanks for helping inform my decision come release date 👍
-
Every review i've seen makes me want to use them. About the two issues you mention: * A quick drybrush as you mention for the highlights is worth it, i'd say even with Contrast, so not bad. * A cheap hairdryer on low will help with the drying time.

Gotta say I have watched now a number of review videos on Army Painter Speed Paints, overall I think they look great. I am definitely getting the full line of the speed paints. For me the cost is a huge defining factor. The Army Painter is a lil cheaper. Another great video and probably the better review of the Speed Paints.

I just wanted to thank you for putting out quality content. I had a stroke Monday and lost all feeling on the left side of my body, but the doctors say I'm young enough my brain should recover and with therapy I should get feeling and function back, but my doctor s husband plays Blood Blowl so she knew exactly everything I would talk about and why I was so upset I wouldn't be able to paint, but like I said, they think I'll be good as new and I getdischarged torrow and your videos along with MS Paints have kept me sane these past few days, so I just wanted to say thank you just for doing what you're doing.
-
best review I've seen on these paints so far, thanks for doing it!

Danggg that Brood Lord looks insanely good! Now I wanna paint one and steal your ideas 😉

Thanks for putting this out. Always good to have another tool in the bag.
