An Overview of Vestibular Migraine

Definitely fits my description of dizziness,brain fog, nausea, while turning my head. Was diagnosed w occular migraine and neuro put me on migraine meds that did not work. I have clear "swirls" in my vision about 20x per day, everyday in only rt eye for four+ years. These swirls are painless, but are different than a classic migraine aura. Used to have headaches as a kid, but do not have the headache pain now. Very frustrating. Thanks, doc

Wow. Been seeing specialists for 7 years for migraines/cluster headaches - this is the first time I've heard of a connection between migraine and vertigo...

The cure for me: read the gospels. Pray to the Holy Spirit to lead me to a specific solution. Cawthorn cooksley exercises. During a Vertigo attack stare gently at a fixed point (on the wall for example a door handle). Cut out screen time and bright lights. Focus on anxiety reduction and stress reduction. This condition destroyed me for years before I did these things...now I’m 90% betters. God helps the hopeless...if you ask.

You might want to look at GERD and Eustachian Tube Dysfunction connection which can kick off vertigo and migraines due to gastric juices causing inflammation in the Eustachian tube. Just putting that out there to consider. It is one issue I discovered is either over looked or ignored by ENT’s as a possibility…but it is very real. I just wish you doctors could find a true cure to this vestibular migraine issue overall instead of just tossing pills, promises and endless diets and other things that just don’t work. This condition is literally life altering in the worst way. It has messed up my life and lead me to experience unimaginable depression, frustration and thoughts of just wanting to give up. Being dizzy, feeling like I am going to puke at any moment due to sudden unexpected vertigo attacks and being in pain due to constant migraines is not my idea of living. I once had a life. A good life. I want it back. 😢💔

I have had all my life aura migraine with a mild headache, as well as a very bad case of motion sickness, but 8 years ago I began to have attacks of vestibular migraine (disorientation, dizziness, vertigo, nausea, violent vomiting and after that a full-blown headache - and all the time I have to be completely motionless and my eyes closed to try to ward off the horrible vertigo and nausea). Some triggers: bad sleep, stress, motion sickness. But all my attacks have come after looking at the screen of a laptop or a phone. My neurologist found me one medicine which I can take immediately and it works: hydroxyzine in a liquid form.

Because I don't get the terrible migraine headaches, it took 10 of those 19 years before anyone knew what was wrong with me. I had constant, non-stop vertigo or feelings of motion for the past two and a half years. I am a little better now but lately, my stress level has triggered a rise in symptoms. It is a bit of a comfort to me to be able to listen to talks like yours. I feel better the more educated I am about my condition. Thanks again!

Crazy stuff! Severe headaches for almost 3 years, AIW symptoms, vertigo and supermarket syndrome, bvd and more. On my third neurologist 😢 I think we’re onto something. I have an arachnoid cyst in my cavernous sinus and mekels cave that they say may be causing my headaches 😮 what a long journey!

I literally screamed with joy when I watched your video! I spent nearly two years in a horrible cycle of complex migraines which resulted in pretty significant blood pressure spikes, and subsequent lacunar infarcts. I have had incidents that could not be diagnosed, and I blew them off as the side effects of the infarcts. No! You described them to a tee! Thank you so much. I have kept them to myself, fearful that I may have another TIA. I have so much peace because of your video.

I have finally controlled my vestibular migraines after 4 years of searching. Come to find out most of us dealing with vestibular migraines, cluster headaches and vertigo are low on Vitamin D3-K2 as well as magnesium and CoQ10, Omega3. In the first 2 weeks I megadosed taking 50,000IU of Vitamin D3-K2 600mg of magnesium glycinate 300mg of Ubiquinol (coQ10) 2,000MG of Omega3 After 2 weeks I reduced my Vitamin D3-K2 to only 10,000 IU daily for maintenance. Look it up on you tube there are several doctor's talking about the dosage and see if it will work for you as it has for me. Im about 90% better and im so greatful, Sending healing vibes 💓 🙏🏽 to everyone I hope you find relief.

Thanks for doing this presentation. I've had chronic vestibular migraine for 7 years. In the past 3 years I've also developed chronic pain migraine as well. Is there another part to this video as it seemed cut off?

Do VM patients always get more dizziness with head movements or not necessarily?

What medications do you find are most effective in treating vestibular migraine?

Was told I had Ménière’s, but new ent says vestibular migraines. But I do have hearing loss.
